Brisbane midfielder Lachie Neale showed a third Brownlow Medal was not beyond him, after a scintillating display against St Kilda at Marvel Stadium on Saturday.
Neale has moved into equal third $15 favourite, with Bombers captain Zach Merrett, following his three-goal, 31 possession game against St Kilda.
Neale, who previously won the award in 2021 and 2023, is one of the most consistent midfielders in the AFL, but is not renowned for kicking goals and if he can add that his repertoire he could be hard for the umpires to ignore.
While Neale remains well behind Collingwood ace Nick Daicos ($3.50) he remains the Lions best midfielder by some distance, and does not appear to have lost any toe, despite being due to turn 32 next month.
Gold Coast Suns superstar Matt Rowell is now the outright second favourite to win the Brownlow Medal, following their magnificent performance against Sydney on the Gold Coast on Sunday.
The tough midfielder has been backed into $9 and looms as a serious chance of winning his first Charlie.
While Rowell was well held in the opening half by James Rowbottom, he was outstanding in the second, to help propel the Suns to a 38-point victory over last year’s grand finalist.
The Suns are now just four points behind Collingwood and Brisbane but boast the best percentage by a significant margin, and hold a one-game buffer on six teams on 16 points.
Giants star Tom Green and Jordan Dawson (both $17), Andrew Brayshaw ($21) and Jai Newcombe ($21) also remain firm in Brownlow betting.
Port Adelaide youngster Jason Horne-Francis also firmed in the betting, coming into $25 from $35 with Neds.
