Collingwood Magpies v Port Power betting tips for May 23 2021

Welcome to our Collingwood v Port Adelaide betting tips, prediction and odds analysis for their AFL round 10 clash at the MCG on Sunday.

Collingwood have been disappointing this season, with just two wins from nine games, but they have been whacked heavily by injuries to key players.

The Magpies were 30-point losers to Sydney last start and had opportunities to make the game much closer, but could not find a way to score.

The Power sit in fifth place with six wins but are coming off a 19-point loss to the Western Bulldogs in Adelaide, which would have hurt Ken Hinkley’s charges.

Port Adelaide ($1.45) are the bookies elect for this clash, although the late money was flowing in for Collingwood, who had been trimmed from $3.15 into $2.79 by Saturday morning. The line for the Magpies vs Power clash is currently at 14.5 with TopSport.

The Magpies have received a major boost at the selection table with key defender Jordan Roughead recovering from his concussion, while tough midfielder Taylor Adams will return after his 10-week knee injury. The Pies have dropped Jack Madgen, Mark Keane and Oliver Henry.

Port Adelaide have recalled important defender Dan Houston, Lachie Jones and long kicker Trent McKenzie as they look to push for a top four position. Essendon recruit Orazio Fantasia, Tom Clurey, Miles Bergman and Martin Frederick go out of the team.

Collingwood v Port Adelaide tips

WGL’s AFL betting expert has examined the odds and found some free Collingwood v Port Adelaide tips:

Darcy Cameron to kick 2+ goals

Cameron has great ability in the air on his day, but can be hit or miss, much to the frustration of Magpies fans. Port Adelaide, particularly without Tom Cleary, may have to rely on the 190cm McKenzie to take Cameron, which could be a tough ask.

Connor Rozee to kick 2+ goals

The young Port star is yet to fully hit his stride after overcoming an injury-interrupted preseason, but Rozee is the exact type of player to trouble the Magpies — smart and skilful. While he is likely to cop either Isaac Quaynor or Brayden Maynard, Rozee has the smarts to kick a couple of cheap ones.

Collingwood to lead at half-time, Port to win (doubles betting)

This bet is a market available at Unibet Australia, where you can bet on a team to be leading at half-time and then go onto lose. We can see the Magpies walking a step taller with Adams back in the line-up and putting in a strong showing, but we just can’t see them beating the skilful Power. While this Magpies v Port tip is offering some great value it is also not one to bank one.

Collingwood v Port Adelaide prediction 23/5

Port Adelaide deserve favouritism in this clash, despite losing their last outing in disappointing fashion to the Dogs. The Power will know the importance of securing a win over a decent opposition on the MCG, which will host the grand final this year and we can see them being fired up for this one. Remarkably most of the money this week has been for the out-of-form Magpies, but we think this just might be wishful thinking on their part. Our final Collingwood v Port Adelaide prediction? Power by 24 points.
