NRL Saturday: Titans v Roosters free tips & odds, round 14, 2021

NRL tips

Welcome to our Gold Coast v Sydney Roosters match preview, prediction and odds update for their NRL clash at Cbus Super Stadium on Saturday, June 12.

NRL Super Saturday features three matches of which this is the first. It will be followed by matches between South Sydney and Newcastle at 5.30pm at Stadium Australia, and Canberra and Brisbane Broncos at 7.35pm at GIO Stadium in Canberra.

The head to head record does not inspire much confident in the Titans, who have won only one of their past nine clashes with the Roosters and have lost the past six in a row by an average margin of just over 17 points.

In their only meeting in 2020, the Roosters won 18-12 at the SCG.

Of course, the Titans have been highly touted this season as finals contenders based on an off-season recruiting spree and their best form has been good enough to trouble the best teams in the NRL.

Unfortunately, the gap between their best and worst is enormous and unless they can sort that out quickly for the second half of the season, the won’t be playing finals.

The Roosters have many well-documented injury and other worries, but have still managed to win eight of their 12 matches so far to sit in fifth place on the ladder.

Meanwhile, the Titans are sitting in 12th with a a record of only five wins from 13 games. They need to start causing a few surprises or they will quickly fall further away among the also-rans.

Titans v Roosters team news for round 14

Gold Coast will be without two of their Origin reps, prop Moeaki Fotuaika, to a dangerous contact charge, and fullback AJ Brimson, but boom forwards David Fifita and Tino Fa’asuamaleaui have been named to take their place in this match.

The Titans could regain winger Anthony Don (hip) and hooker Mitch Rein (shoulder) after injury, while son of a gun Jayden Campbell will step in for Brimson and Jaimin Joliffe comes into the starting side for Fotuaika.

The Roosters, strangely for them, did not have a huge representation in the Origin match. NSW ace James Tedesco has been named at fullback but youngster Joseph Suaalii is on stand-by for Tedesco.

As always with the round played immediately after Origin, it’s worth checking the teams in the last hour before kick-off.

Our NRL betting expert has highlighted his free tips for Saturday’s game.

Titans +14.5 points/match total over 51.5 points

This option available at TopSport is paying $3.70. We will give the Titans the benefit of the doubt that they can at least push the Roosters all the way. Being at home will certainly help and with their season on the line, they won’t be lacking for motivation.

Josh Morris to score 2+ tries

The Roosters veteran would love nothing more than to score a bagful of tries as a tribute to his identical twin Brett, who announced his retirement this week after suffering a season-ending knee injury recently. Josh is still going strong and is a key part of a high-quality Roosters back line. Watch for the salute to his brother if he scores.

Gold Coast Titans v Sydney Roosters prediction 12-6-2021

This should be a fairly free-flowing affair in good conditions. The Titans have a pack that looks capable of at least matching the Roosters though they will need Origin stars David Fifita and Tino Fa’asuamaleaui to turn up in style. If they can they will trouble the Roosters, who amazingly can still turn out a quality side despite all their injuries and retirements. Their salary-cap manager is a genius. The Roosters back line should have enough nous to help them get over the line in a tight one. Our Titans v Roosters prediction: Roosters to win by 4 points.
