NRL Sunday: Knights v Sea Eagles betting tips, prediction & odds, round 14, 2020

NRL round 9: Eels v Roosters

Welcome to our Newcastle Knights v Manly Warringah Sea Eagles match preview, prediction and odds update for their NRL clash at McDonald Jones Stadium on Sunday, August 16.

This is the best match of the day, with the latter clash between Wests Tigers and Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs unlikely to have any impact on the top eight heading towards the finals.

The Knights have won three of their past five matches against the Sea Eagles, with their most recent encounter a controversial 14-12 win at Brookvale in round eight this year.

Newcastle have performed well in recent weeks, tuning up for this with an impressive 44-4 romp against Wests Tigers, while Manly have continued to rack up the injuries and slumped to ninth place on the table.

The Sea Eagles are in desperate need of a win here, but it does not help that they have lost prop Addin Fonua-Blake (knee) and have another in Marty Taupau (head knock) in doubt for this clash.

They do regain back-rowers Joel Thompson (ankle) and Curtis Sironen (knee) while Brad Parker (head knock) replaced Tevita Funa at centre.

The Knights regain rep forward Daniel Saifiti from a knee injury.

Knights v Sea Eagles free betting tips

Below our NRL betting expert has highlighted his free Newcastle v Manly Warringah betting tips.

Newcastle -7.5 points/match total over 39.5 points

With the weather expected to be clear, the young Knights should be full of running against a badly depleted Manly and they will really take some stopping. At their best they are an irresistible attacking forced and this is an important match for the with the finals starting to loom.

Kurt Mann to score a try

The Newcastle hooker has a knack of getting across the stripe and should get a few opportunities in this one. Mann has scored five tries in 13 matches this season and we are happy to be on the talented rake.

Newcastle Knights v Manly Warringah Sea Eagles prediction

This is the huge game for both teams, with Newcastle hoping to make a late push for the top four and Manly just hoping to string a few wins together and get back in the top eight for when a few of their injured stars return. Des Hasler will no doubt have his Sea Eagles motivated for a big effort but unfortunately they look a little light-on for troops against the energetic home team, who can’t afford to be complacent. The Knights have Mitchell Pearce pulling the strings and fullback Kalyn Ponga in super form adding the magic. That along with a powerful forward pack should be enough. Our Knights v Sea Eagles prediction: Knights by 14 points.
