NRL Sunday: Storm v Sea Eagles betting tips, prediction & odds, round 16, 2020

NRL round 9: Eels v Roosters

Welcome to our Melbourne Storm v Manly Warringah match preview, prediction and odds update for their NRL clash at Sunshine Coast Stadium on Sunday, August 30.

Melbourne are sitting comfortably in the top three, despite the disappointment of a 14-0 loss to Parramatta last round when they were held scoreless for one of the few times in their history.

The Storm troops have arrived to bolster what was a depleted team last round. In come two of the biggest names in the game in hooker Cameron Smith and five-eighth Cameron Munster to face Manly.

The Sea Eagles have endured a miserable season injury-wise but had battled on manfully, but it has all fallen away of late, culminating in a 56-16 thrashing last round against the rampant Rabbitohs.

They are sitting in 12th spot and out of finals contention but can shape how the final eight looks heading into the finals.

Manly have been forced to shuffle their back line once again for this match, with powerful centre Moses Suli (foot) the latest player to be struck down injured. Young back Albert Hopoate is on the pine and in line for his NRL debut. Veteran Joel Thompson is back from a rare tongue injury.

Melbourne, as well as regaining Smith and Munster, also get half Jahrome Hughes (groin) back after injury, as well as veteran prop Jesse Bromwich from suspension. They have hooker Brandon Smith (broken jaw), while Ryley Jacks and Cooper Johns exit the halves to make way for Munster and Hughes.

Storm v Sea Eagles free betting tips

Below our NRL betting expert has highlighted his free Melbourne Storm-Manly betting tips.

Storm -14.5 points/match total over 42.5

The Storm are all of a sudden back to near full strength, which is the just the way things have rolled for Manly this season. For some reason there has been money for Manly at the 14.5-point line but we can’t go along with that and think the Storm will cover it comfortably, even if it takes some time to gel again, with so many changes to the line-up.

Josh Addo-Carr to score 2 or more tries

We have been hot on the Fox in recent weeks and he has been so close to delivering for us. But we will try a different tack this week and back him to score at least two tries with leading bookmaker Unibet Australia. He is paying $3.50 to score at least two but if you are feeling adventurous he is paying $9.50 to score three or more.

Melbourne Storm v Manly Sea Eagles

The Melbourne Storm are genuine, gold-plated NRL title contenders in 2020. Manly are not. While Manly coach Des Hasler is one of the few to have a winning record against Storm mentor Craig Bellamy, the gap in class looks apparent, given the Sea Eagles are missing at least half a dozen first choice players. Plus this match is being played at the Storm’s new ”home” ground, where they have looked unbeatable. This one could get ugly for the Sea Eagles; they need to really aim up and make it a defensive slog. Our Storm v Sea Eagles prediction: Melbourne Storm by 26 points.
