The Sydney Roosters and Gold Coast Titans clash in a knockout final at Queensland Country Bank Stadium, Townsville, on Saturday night, September 11.

The winners of the Roosters-Titans clash will advance to play the losers of the Friday night qualifying final between the Storm and Sea Eagles.

The recent history between the teams does not make for pleasant reading for Titans fans. The Roosters have won their past seven against the Titans and nine of the past 10.

Their only clash this year was a classic, though, with the Roosters winning 35-34 in round 14 thanks to a late Sam Walker field goal after the Titans had stormed home from 18-4 down at half-time.

The Rooster finished the regular season in fifth place, while the Titans were the last time to qualify for the finals. They needed to win their final match against the NZ Warriors by 11 points or more and turned in their best showing for the season in a 44-0 rout.

That win will send Gold Coast into this contest chock full of confidence and there is no doubt they have the attacking flair to put a scare into the more highly credentialled Roosters, who are led by superstar James Tedesco.

Watch out for the hugely exciting fullback Jayden Campbell for the Titans. He is the son of form champion player Preston Campbell.

Team news for Roosters-Titans final

The Roosters get a huge boost for their pack with the return of veteran prop Jared Waerea-Hargreaves from a knee injury and and firebrand lock Victor Radley from suspension.

Gold Coast also add a massive amount of experience with skipper Kevin Proctor expected back from his shoulder injury to lead the pack, in place of Sam McIntye.

Titans back-row force David Fifita has been playing with damaged ribs but will be given a painkilling injection and take his place in the match.

Sydney Roosters v Gold Coast Titans tips – NRL EF 2021

Our NRL betting expert has examined the markets and found value Roosters-Titans tips:

Titans +12.5 points/match total over 46.5 points

The Roosters have been priced as if unbeatable in this match and we don’t think they are. The tricolours started this season with high hopes of winning the title but a poor injury run plus the retirement of several key players has left them vulerable. While they are a more polished outfit than than the Titans, the 12.5-point spread looks massive and we prefer to punt on the Queensland team, who should garner plenty of support in Townsville.

James Tedesco to score a try

The Roosters fullback and captain is one of the best players in the game and seems certain to step up now that the finals are here. His team needs him to be more heavily involved than ever and he is sort of heart and soul player who will answer the call.

Sydney Roosters v Gold Coast Titans prediction 11/9/2021

The Roosters deserve to be favourites with Australian betting sites, but not as short as $1.24 in our view. While we think they will prevail courtesy of their much greater finals experience, we don’t expect there to be much between these teams. IN fact, a tri-bet with either team winning by less than 6.5 points would not be a bad play. Our final Roosters-Titans prediction? Roosters by 4 points.
