Brisbane v Richmond betting tips, prediction & odds; AFL Qualifying Final preview 2020

Welcome to our free Brisbane Lions v West Coast Eagles betting tips for Saturday’s AFL match of the day from the Gabba.

This match can’t come quickly enough for the highly fancied Eagles, who will be desperate to rebound from their shock thrashing at the hands of the Gold Coast Suns last week.

But the bad news for West Coast is that that they are taking on the powerful Lions team without imposing key defender Jeremy McGovern, who is out suspended. McGovern is the rock around which the Eagles’ defence is built so it will be vital for the Eagles to win the midfield battle and not allow the Lions to get the ball forward quickly.

The Lions have a glaring issue of their own with veteran ruckman Stefan Martin out injured. Athletic ruck prospect Archie Smith has been called in and faces the unenviable task of curbing Eagles superstar Nic Naitanui. That should be a fantastic battle to watch.

The Eagles have some extra motivation with wingman Andrew Gaff playing his 200th game, while Lions defender Harris Andrews is playing his 100th for the club and veteran for Hawk Grant Birchall his 250th.

The Lions survived a tough battle in their first match back after the break against Fremantle and will need to step it up a notch against the motivated Eagles, though the home ground advantage should count for plenty.

Brisbane v West Coast betting tips

Our AFL betting expert has scoured the odds for some value and found several Lions v Eagles bets for Saturday night’s game.

Brisbane -2.5 points/match total under 136.5 points

This double is paying around $3.60 at PlayUp. We expect this match to be quite intense with goals hard to come by. The Eagles will want to put the clamps on early and the weather forecast does not look great.

West Coast to lead at half-time and lose the match

We expect the Eagles to hit the ground running but the Lions to finish over the top of them. We will have a small speculator on this option with Australian bookie PlayUp at around the $7 mark.

Brisbane Lions v West Coast Eagles prediction 20/6/2020

This is the match of the round between two teams we think will be front and centre when the finals are held later this year. While we think the shock loss to the Suns was just a glitch caused in part by the hub set-up, the Eagles face a really hungry and talented team again this time. Teams can’t afford too many slip-ups and both of these contenders have already lost once. The Lions crushed the Eagles by 44 points when these teams met at the Gabba in round 1 last year. We expect a much closer contest this time but the Lions by 14 points for us.
