Coleman Medal betting preview 2026

The Coleman Medal is the leading goal-kicker award for the AFL, with it attracting huge attention from punters, and proving to be a lucrative betting market, with the field generally wide open.

The last two Coleman Medallists have been Geelong superstar Jeremy Cameron and GWS’s talisman Jesse Hogan, with both offering some nice value prior to their winning seasons.

Cameron booted 83 goals in the home and away season last year in his best season at the Cats, with the veteran paying $8 to claim the award in 2026.

In 2024, Giants forward Hogan booted 69 goals after starting the season as long as $30 to win the Coleman Medal – odds the WGL team gleefully snapped up at the time.

Flakey Sydney recruit Charlie Curnow is the $5 favourite with Australian betting sites to win the Coleman Medal in his first year at the Swans, after winning it as a Blue in 2022 and 2023.

Bulldogs key forward Sam Darcy is also paying $5 to claim the crown, while Giant Ben King ($8), Crow Riley Thilthorpe ($13) and Roo Nick Larkey ($26) are also fancied.

Coleman Medal betting tips 2026

Our AFL betting expert has been scouring the form guide ahead of the season and finally made a call on our Coleman Medal tips for 2026:

Will this year be Sam Darcy’s breakout?

The son of Luke Darcy is simply outstanding for a big man. He’s like Mason Cox but can play football. It would take a brave analyst to bet against him winning a Coleman in his career and it could very well be this year. We’re willing to leave him out, simply because we think he is too short for a player who has shown brilliance, but varies dramatically in performance. You could do worse than take the $5 price at Neds Australia

Best Coleman Medal roughie for 2026

We are going to go with Nick Larkey as our roughie. We’ve got a feeling the Roos are going to make a charge at the finals this year and their no.1 forward should kick plenty of majors. He’s also paying a massive $26 to win the Coleman – odds we’re not going to sneeze at. Carlton forward Harry McKay is another at odds that don’t match his output. He’s also likely to play closer to goal on a more permanent basis this year, with Curnow having fled down the Hume to the Swans. We’re going to load up on Larkey and have something small on McKay. Logan Morris, who kicked 53 goals in just his second AFL season, is another offering major value at 67.00.

To Curnow or not to Curnow

Charlie Curnow looked like he’d rather be anywhere else last season, and we can’t blame him with some of  awful delivery he received at the Blues. He’s undoubtedly fired up to make an impact at the Swans and if his body holds up, will be in contention for the Coleman.  We’re not going down the Curnow path, simply because he’s too short, has burnt us before, and we like value in this market. Ultimately would we be surprised if he won the Coleman? No.
