FIFA strikes World Cup streaming, TV deals in Asia
FIFA has confirmed a series of new media rights agreements across Asia that will allow millions of fans in the region to watch the FIFA World Cup 2026 when the expanded tournament kicks off on June 11.
Broadcast deals have now been finalised in several key markets, including Japan, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Singapore and the Philippines. Japan’s coverage will be handled by Dentsu, while PCCW has secured rights in Hong Kong, TVRI will broadcast the tournament in Indonesia, Mediacorp will deliver coverage in Singapore and Aleph Group will oversee distribution in the Philippines.
The agreements follow earlier rights sales in Cambodia, Chinese Taipei, Macau, Mongolia and South Korea, significantly expanding the tournament’s reach across Asia.
Additional broadcast partners have also been confirmed in Nepal, the Maldives and Timor Leste, with negotiations ongoing in Vietnam.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup tournament will be the largest in history, featuring 48 teams and 104 matches played across the United States, Canada and Mexico, with the final scheduled for July 19 in New York, New Jersey.
Spain is currently the 4.50 favourite to win the World Cup, their first since 2010, but England and France are also being heavily backed at international betting sites.
