Final two spots at FIFA World Cup decided
Bosnia and Herzegovina and Sweden have secured the final two places at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with dramatic playoff victories sealing the last remaining spots in the expanded tournament.
Bosnia booked their place after defeating Italy 4-1 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in Zenica, condemning the four-time world champions to a third consecutive World Cup absence. The hosts overturned an early deficit, with Haris Tabakovic forcing extra time before Esmir Bajraktarevic converted the decisive spot-kick in the shootout.

The World Cup is due to kick off on June 12 when Mexico host South Africa at Estadio Azteca, with the El Tri Color expected to account for the African team.
