Pakistan v South Africa betting tips, prediction & odds; 1st Test preview

South Africa v Sri Lanka betting tips and prediction; 2nd Test preview 2021

Welcome to our Pakistan v South Africa betting tips, prediction and odds analysis for the 1st Test at Karachi from Tuesday, January 26.

South Africa are touring Pakistan for the first time since 2007, meaning none of their players bar Faf Du Plessis has any experience in the conditions there, and even then Du Plessis has played only T20 cricket there.

Low and slow conditions are expected, and in a big boost for the home side Pakistan captain Babar Azam is back after missing the 2-0 Test series defeat in New Zealand because of a fractured thumb suffered in the lead-up.

Azam is a world-class batsman in all three forms of the game and they sadly missed his input in NZ with the top order struggling. They are going in with a largely young side.

Pakistan will relish being back on home soil after they have been soundly beaten in Test series in England and New Zealand on the road since international cricket resumed. Under-fire coach Misbah-ul-Haq needs his team to fire and likely to win the series to save his job.

South Africa are coming off a 2-0 series win at home against Sri Lanka and a 3-1 series defeat against England. The Proteas will relish having spearhead Kagiso Rabada available again.

Pakistan v South Africa betting tips

Our cricket tipsters have examined the odds and found several Pakistan v South Africa tips for the opening Test.

Fawad Alam top-scorer Pakistan 1st innings

Fawad Alam scored a Test century on the tour of New Zealand and has been scoring mountains of runs for a decade and more in the Pakistan domestic league. He was overlooked for a long time for the national side but he still has plenty of runs to come. Plus Azam may be a little rusty.

Pakistan to win at $2.10

Pakistan showed some good signs against New Zealand in what was a troubled tour with injuries and also quarantine issues. They are a completely different proposition at home.

Pakistan v South Africa prediction 26/1/2021

On form the Proteas have the Pakistan team covered but South Africa are also in something of a state of flux and head into the unknown playing in Pakistan. England easily accounted for both of these teams, which are ranked fifth (South Africa) and seventh (Pakistan) by the ICC in Test cricket. This is an important series for both countries which need to show some forward momentum to appease their fans. We are betting Pakistan will lift on home soil. Our final Pakistan v South Africa prediction? Pakistan to win by 5 wickets/120 runs.
