Sri Lanka v England betting tips, prediction & odds; 2nd Test preview

South Africa v England T20, November 29

Welcome to our Sri Lanka v England betting tips, prediction and odds analysis for the 2nd Test at Galle from Friday, January 22.

England scored a commanding seven-wicket win on this same ground in the opening Test, largely on the back of an imperious double ton from England captain Joe Root.

Local pundits believe the ball will turn sharply in this second Test and the draw seems an unlikely outcome give many Test matches in Sri Lanka are over in four days or less.

England of course would love to complete a 2-0 sweep before they head to India to play a four-Test series, with the first Test in Chennai from February 5.

Both teams are tipped to make changes for this second Test, with Sri Lanka dropping out-of-form No.3 Kusal Mendis and bringing in Oshada Fernando. Pace bowler Suranga Lakmal should also be ready to come into the team.

England will rotate their pacemen with an eye to the India series. Veteran James Anderson, Olly Stone and Chris Woakes will likely come into the XI. Stuart Broad, Sam Curran and Mark Wood will be rested.

Sri Lanka v England betting tips

Our cricket tipsters have examined the odds and found several Sri Lanka v England tips for the second Test.

Wanindu Hasaranga most wickets first innings

The young leggie never got going in the first Test but we will stick with him to find his range on a pitch conducive to spin this time. We tipped him for man of the match in the first Test and may back up again with a small wager in this match. PWH de Silva is a real talent.

Joe Root top scorer for England 1st innings

Sometimes you just have to take the obvious bet and Root was so much more comfortable in the first innings than his teammates it was ridiculous. Neither of the England openers reached double figures in either innings. Root will do us at $3.50.

Sri Lanka v England prediction 22/1/2021

England have an amazing recent record in Sri Lanka, a place that is difficult for most touring teams to succeed. Root’s knock papered over a few cracks in the first Test, but the English batsmen should be better for having experienced the conditions. Our final Sri Lanka v England prediction? This should be a much closer contest but it’s hard to tip a Sri Lanka team really low on confidence.
