AFLW dates and schedule 2026

The AFLW season for 2026 will start in the second week of August and run for 12 home and away rounds, with a three-week finals series.

The AFLW will remain a 18-team competition in 2026, with each AFL club now having a women’s league team.

The AFLW launched as just an eight team competition, but quickly expanded to 10 teams (2019), 14 teams (2020) and 18 teams for the 2022 season.

The AFL is yet to announce whether the proposed men’s team from Tasmania will field an AFLW outfit.

AFLW betting 2026

North Melbourne is the 2026 pre-season AFLW premiership fancy, after their victory over Brisbane in last year’s decider, which netted them a second flag in their second season.

Coached by ex-Roos hardman Darren Crocker, the North Melbourne AFLW team went through the 2024 season undefeated, before remarkably doing it again last year, and thrashing Brisbane in the grand final.

Perennial powerhouse Adelaide and 2023 champion Brisbane also have claims on the 2026, while Carlton is being tipped by many as a big improver.

There are currently no AFLW premiership odds for the 2026 season, with these expected to be released closer to the August start.

AFLW 2025 Premiership Odds
