Collingwood v Hawthorn betting tips and prediction
Welcome to our Collingwood v Hawthorn betting tips and winner prediction for their AFL round 8 clash at the MCG on Thursday night.
The Hawks are a heavy favourite at 1.33 to defeat the Magpies (3.35) after their strong start to the season, which sees them sitting third after seven rounds.
The Hawks-Magpies line has been set at 21.5, while the over/under mark, which is always fun in Collingwood games is set at 180.5.
The Hawks will be boosted by captain James Sicily and small Dylan Moore after their suspensions with Jack Dalton and possibly Jack Scrimshaw, despite a strong game in their win against the Suns, the players likely to make way.
Collingwood, fresh off their Anzac Day win over Essendon, will rest Scott Pendlebury just two games shy of breaking the all-time games record, with their current skipper Darcy Moore set to return from a hamstring ailment after training strongly this week.
The Magpies are also likely to call up either Jack Buller or Charlie West to replace Tim Membrey, who injured a hamstring against Essendon.

Collingwood v Hawthorn betting tips
Our AFL betting expert has assessed the markets and found some value Collingwood v Hawthorn tips:
James Sicily 20+ possessions
The Hawks captain has made a habit of tearing the Magpies apart with his intercept marking in the past. He’s also offering some nice value at 1.80 with betting sites to gather 20+ possessions in his return from suspension.
Nick Watson 2+ goals
We stayed away from Watson last week, and he was relatively quiet, but we can see this game being a low-scoring slog, with a goal or two to a player like the Wizard the difference. Watson is paying 1.50 to kick 2+ goals.
Jordan De Goey 2+ goals
The Hawks don’t have a logical matchup for De Goey down back, with the Magpies bull too explosive for Josh Battle and too quick for Tom Barrass. De Goey is also likely to get a lot loss attention in the midfield than Nick Daicos, and will get opportunities streaming forward. If the Magpies are to cause an upset, expect JDG to fire.
Collingwood + 21.5
Collingwood is hard to score against, despite their own scoring woes and we can’t see Hawthorn blowing them away. We like the Magpies +21.5 at 1.90, with this available at Neds betting.
Collingwood v Hawthorn prediction
Hawthorn are justifiably favourites against the Magpies, despite so many unknowns around their opponent. The Hawks greater forward spread, and dangerous smalls like Watson, Jack Ginnivan and Connor Macdonald make them exceptionally dangerous in the front half. We can see the Magpies turning this into a dour clash, with the Hawks smalls being the difference. Our final Collingwood v Hawthorn prediction? Hawks by 11 points.
