AFL finals week 1 fixture and odds update 2021

After a pulsating final round of the AFL season, the finals fixture for week 1 has been released, with the Power installed a narrow favourite to defeat Geelong in the opener on Friday night. 

The Power snatched a home final and consigned the Western Bulldogs to fifth with a last gasp two-point win on Friday night, their sixth successive victory. 

They will now host a Cats team that is reeling following a Max Gawn goal after the siren, which helped the Demons to their first minor premiership since 1964.

Ken Hinkley’s team are the $1.80 favourite to win the 2nd qualifying final, with the Cats outsiders at $2.05, with the road trip to Adelaide undoubtedly the worst-case scenario. 

On Saturday, Sydney ($1.61) will host GWS  ($2.34) at the University of Tasmania in the 2nd elimination final and they will have to defeat history to win, having played their cross-town rival twice in finals for two losses. 

Minor premier Melbourne ($1.67) is the bookies pick to defeat Brisbane ($2.21) in Adelaide in the 1st qualifying final, despite having to forfeit their home ground advantage because of the current lockdown in Victoria. 

Week one of the 2021 AFL finals series will wrap up with a blockbuster 1st elimination final between Western Bulldogs ($1.55) and Essendon ($2.46 with top AU betting sites), with the young Bombers defeating Collingwood in a meaningless match on Sunday.
