Four-time defending NRL champions Penrith host Manly-Warringah on Saturday night at CommBank Stadium, with both teams in desperate need of win to get their premiership tilts back on track. Read on for our match preview, prediction and odds update.
The Panthers are solid favourites at around $1.55 for this match, and they have won nine of their past 10 clashes against the Sea Eagles, so you would think this will be an easy kill for Ivan Cleary’s team.

But make no mistake. This is not the same Penrith team that has dominated the NRL competition for so long. The departure of Jarome Luai (along with many other departures in recent years as players sought bigger pay cheques elsewhere), has left Nathan Cleary isolated to some extent as playmaker.
Before last week’s dazzling 40-12 win against the Roosters, the Panthers has dropped five consecutive matches.
Manly are not travelling too well at the moment, either, dropping their past three matches to the Storm, Sharks and Dragons after a promising start to the season. They are languishing in 11th spot and need to win this to revive their season.

The biggest news for this game is the return of Manly’s powerhouse fullback Tom Trbojevic. It’s no coincidence they have lost their past three games with Turbo Tommy sitting on the sidelines with a knee injury. But that has been tempered by the loss of his brother Jake Trbojevic (concussion protocols).
Penrith will miss suspended hooker Mitch Kenny.
