Carlton v GWS betting tips, AFL round 11 2025

Carlton will clash with the equally out-of-form GWS in the early game at Marvel Stadium on Saturday, with both desperately needing a win to gain some momentum before the mid-season break.

The Blues are the $1.73 favourite to defeat the Giants ($2.10), despite sitting a win behind the Sydney team on the AFL ladder. The Blues v Giants line is sitting at 4.5 points with Australian betting sites

Carlton is coming off a 16-point loss to Sydney, with their foot skills and inability to hit targets going forward their achilles heel.

The Blues win plenty of the ball at the coalface but their turnovers by foot cruel them, with George Hewitt, Sam Walsh and Blake Acres some of the key culprits.

The Blues are likely to include no.1 ruckman Tom De Koning after a throat injury, while small forwards Orazio Fantasia and Lachie Fogarty could also be included, with their forward craft desperately needed.

GWS is banking on a quick rebound after their shock loss to Fremantle at home on Saturday, which was a far cry from their barnstorming win over Collingwood in round 1.

GWS will be without Finn Callaghan for the clash, with the talented mifielder expected to miss at least a month with a shoulder injury. The Giants will also be unable to select Stephen Coniglio, Josh Kelly, Toby McMullin and Jake Stringer.

Carlton v GWS tips

Our AFL betting expert has assessed the markets and found some value Carlton v GWS tips:

Patrick Cripps 25+ disposals

While Cripps has not been as dominant as other seasons, the Blues captain is still their best player and you can guarantee that in such an important game, he will be a presence. With the powerful Giants midfield including the likes of Tom Green, if the Blues are to win this one, Cripps must perform. He is also paying $1.57 to gather 25+ disposals. Steer clear of Walsh in possessions betting, with the no.1 draft pick being a multi-killer in 2025.

Tom Green 30+ possessions

While Cripps is important for Carlton, Green is the same for the Giants. With Carlton’s lack of accountability brutally exposed by the Swans last round, with Isaac Heeney and Chad Warner gathering 38 and 30 possessions respectively, we can’t see them stopping midfield bull Green, without someone like Cripps sacrificing their own game, which won’t happen. Green is a paying $1.73 to get 30+ possessions.

Charlie Curnow to kick 3+ goals

We were tossing up between Jesse Hogan and Curnow for goals, and both are a reliable option, but the Carlton star is paying $2.20 (vs Hogan’s $1.70) with Neds, which is enough to tilt us in this direction. With the game under the roof at Marvel, it should be a high-scoring game at times and key forwards should get plenty of looks. Curnow also looks to be hitting peak form right now, with his game let down last week by some errant kicking at goal.

Carlton v GWS winner prediction

For Carlton this clash is critically important and they could fall two games outside the top eight before their mid-season break, which means they simply must win. The Giants have more talent across the board but have some key injuries and travel to Melbourne after their horror loss to Freo. We can see this clash going right down to the wire, but the Giants better skills and conversion to get them home late. Our final Carlton v GWS prediction? Giants by nine points.
