The Knockout: Thunder v Heat betting tips, preview

This should be an epic clash though the forecast for Canberra is not great and the weather could play a role. It always pays to check the outlook close to game time.

The Sixers had hoped to add Australian ace Mitchell Starc to the mix for the finals but the big left-armer had scans on both knee during the week and is highly unlikely to play this weekend.

The teams met twice during the tournament proper, with the Scorchers easily winning the first clash in Perth when they piled on 4-183 and the Sixers collapsed in reply for 97, with Andrew Tye snaring four wickets.

In the rematch a fortnight ago at Manuka Oval, the Sixers chased down the Scorchers’ total of 7-163, losing only three wickets as Josh Philippe racked up 84 off 52 balls.

Sixers v Scorchers betting tips

Our cricket tipsters have examined the odds and found several Sixers v Scorchers tips for Saturday night’s BBL clash.

Josh Philippe man of the match

The dashing wicketkeeper has been, along with the Thunder’s Alex Hales, the star batsman of this tournament and looks likely hit the international stage soon. Philippe has made runs consistently and at a rapid pace so no reason to think he won’t shine on this bigger stage.

Sixers to win at $2

The Sixers are the home team here and should be comfortable playing in Canberra, though of course they would be playing at the SCG. If they can win this that could be the venue for the final. Little separates these sides so we like the look of the even money for the top team.

Sixers v Scorchers prediction 30/1/2021

These are the two best teams in it, though the Thunder not far behind and arguably have the most potent batting line-up. This clash should be a cracker with the Sixers holding a slight batting edge and the Scorchers the better bowling outfit, with so much international experience. This should be a classic confrontation and we just hope the weather does not play a decisive role. Our final Sixers v Scorchers prediction? Sixers to advance straight to the final.
