Engand v West Indies betting tips; 3rd Test Preview 2020

Welcome to our England V West Indies betting tips and prediction for the 3rd Test from Old Trafford, beginning on Friday.

While England will go into the final Test as overwhelming favourites, having levelled the series 1-1, they will have to contend with a troublesome weather forecast if they are to regain the Wisden Trophy.

Manchester is scheduled to have five successive days of rain from Saturday, which has us leaning towards a draw (paying $2.60 with WilliamHill.com) and the West Indies retaining the trophy, courtesy of being the current holders.

Despite the bleak weather forecast, England will be feeling much better after Ben Stokes inspired them to a 113-run 2nd Test victory, in an intriguing battle, also played at Manchester. Stokes, who handed back the captaincy to Joe Root for the second encounter, blasted 176 in the first innings and then 70 off just 57 balls when England needed quick runs on Day 5.

England are likely to make several changes for the third Test, with their fast-bowling department set to be boosted by Jimmy Anderson and Jofra Archer, who was outed for breaching the strict COVID-19 protocols the series is being played under. We are predicting Chris Woakes and Sam Curran will make way for the star pair.

The West Indies will be ruing Jason Holder winning the toss and bowling, after England piled on 469 runs in the first innings, with this mistake potentially costing them a series victory. The Windies went into the second Test unchanged, but are likely to swing some changes in their fast bowling department. We think the Windies will include the express Chemar Holder and potentially spinner Rakheem Cornwall, with the Old Trafford pitch expected to be spin friendly. They will not want to rely on Roston Chase to bowl 44 overs again, like he did in the first innings of the second Test.

Followers of our previous England v West Indies tips would be counting their money, after we successfully tipped the Windies at $7.80 in the first Test, before our $8 man-of-the-match tip on Ben Stokes came through, and England, as predicted, won the game. Hopefully we can finish strongly and deliver some more winners.

England v West Indies betting tips

The World Gambling List’s cricket writer has examined the ENG v WI betting for the third Test from Old Trafford and found some tips we like.

Ben Stokes to win man of the match

Our successful man-of-the-match tip from the second Test, Ben Stokes has firmed into $6.00 to repeat the dose in the final Test. We think he’s a good bet, with the star all-rounder absolutely dominating the Windies’ bowlers on this very pitch that the third Test will be played on. Stokes is doing it all the moment and in cricket it’s common players get on a roll; we are happy to be on board.

Chemar Holder to take most first-innings wickets for West Indies

England have not had a look at the hugely talented Holder and we think he can cause a little bit of damage in the first innings. Obviously keep an eye on the teams to make sure he is in there, but Holder is an outstanding prospect and will take plenty of Test wickets in the future. Holder is paying $6 to take the most first-innings wickets.

Dom Bess to take most last innings wickets

Young spinner Dom Bess has bowled without a lot of luck in the series so far, but has showed a lot of potential. We are expecting the Old Trafford pitch to spin and Bess is England’s best spinner. Weather permitting, we think Bess can take the most wickets in the West Indies’ second innings, which should be paying around the $6 mark. We saw Roston Chase take wickets last Test, so if Cornwall is included don’t hesitate to assess his odds and potentially have a little bet.

England v West Indies prediction 24/7/2020

We think England will have the West Indies’ measure again in the final Test, largely because with Root and Stokes in the middle order they look a lot more solid than their opposition. The fact the Windies’ pace quartet bowled a mountain of overs in the 2nd Test (they have all played both games to date) and Shannon Gabriel struggled at times, backing up again just might be too much. Obviously the rain is going to be a factor when betting on this England vs West Indies clash, which means our best bet is to back the draw at $2.60. Our final, weather permitting, England v West Indies prediction? England by 200 runs.
