In a strange quirk of the draw, these teams clashed on Sunday, with the Hurricanes winning a classic contest by 11 runs at Blundstone Arena in Hobart.
That match was a little more one-sided than the scores suggest, with only an incredible last-ditch partnership between Daniel Worrall (62no) and Danny Briggs (35no) adding respectability to what had been a poor Strikers run chase. Worrall and Briggs added 61, a record 10th-wicket stand for the BBL.
Nonetheless, the Striker have to wait only two days to seek revenge as the the teams meet again in the first match of the Big Bash League season at University of Tasmania Stadium.
Bookmakers rate this match as close to an even-money bet, with both teams rated at $1.90 with leading international bookies.

The Hurricanes are two from two to start the season, and in the match on Sunday their trump card D’Arcy Short finally found his range after a disappointing start to the summer playing for Australia and also in the opening BBL match.
Again, with Matthew Wade on Australian duty, much will depend on the powerhouse left-hander Short, though the Hurricanes were impressive in winning their opening game after Short’s early departure.
Adelaide Strikers will be desperate not to go 0-2 to start the season and desperately need their top-order to show more starch this time around.
Strikers superstar Rashid Khan was dealt with severely by Short, and will be hoping for a little more help from the Launceston pitch.

Rashid Khan man of the match at $8
The Afghan leg-spinner is one of the best players in the world at the shortest form of the game. We expect him to bounce back hard after a disappointing display first-up and he is also a threat with the bat as well as the ball. Hopefully the University of Launceston pitch is helpful.

The Strikers will have been buoyed by the late hitting from Worrall and Briggs and that should also give those two bowlers great confidence for this clash. Adelaide were rated among the favourites for the BBL title this time, but they need to bank some early points until they regain stars such as Travis Head and Alex Carey later int he summer.
