After being sent in to bat and compiling a really competitive total, they just lacked a Trent Boult or Lockie Ferguson to really put the Indian openers under pressure and in the end relied largely on spin to get the job done. It wasn’t enough.

We tipped New Zealand to spring an upset and they came mighty close but it’s going to be tough for the Black Caps to turn the tables at Eden Park. They will probably need to make an even bigger total than they did on Friday which would require someone knocking up a century.

NZ v Ind 2nd T20 betting tips

Here are the WGL’s free tips for the NZ-India T20 on Sunday, January 26. Read here for more information about betting on international cricket fixtures.

Century to be scored in the match at $8

We found the $8 with leading British bookie Williamhill.com but many of the other best international bookies are offering similar odds so shop around. Yes, it’s an unusual and speculative bet but the pitch at Eden Park is clearly batsman-friendly. The best players all scored freely, many at up to an above two runs a ball! We expect another high-scoring clash, so can see someone bringing up the rare ton in a T20 International.

Rohit Sharma top India batter at $3.50

Sharma is always the the of player who once he gets off to a flyer can go right on with the job. We tossed up between him and the in-form KL Rahul here, but we just love the way Sharma can put together big scores regularly at a good strike rate. Just a world-class player. Shop around for odds here as the likes of William Hill often offer enhanced odds about such bets on the day of the match.

Martin Guptill top scorer for NZ at $4

The big Kiwi is always a dangerous player and they will need him to fire if they are to get close to beating the Indians. He struck the ball well in his quick-fire 30 and like Sharma, he is a player not afraid to go on and make a big score. The 33-year-old should have a few big scores left in him.

New Zealand v India predictions – 2nd T20, January 26, 2020

We expect India to win again and take a 2-0 lead in the five-match T20 series but cannot see a lot of value in backing them straight-out. For that reason we have focused on the batting markets as we think it will be another batsman-dominated match. Good punting.
