The Scorchers need a boost from Jason Roy.

This is WGL’s odds update and tips for the first T20 International, only the second T20 International played at picturesque Eastern Cape ground.

The tourists welcome back star all-rounder Ben Stokes as well as paceman Mark Wood and big-hitting Jos Buttler after they were all rested from the ODIs.
The trio, especially Stokes, give a much more powerful look to the England side.
South Africa, meanwhile, have recalled the veteran paceman Dale Steyn after a year out of international cricket. While has been a wonderful servant for the Proteas, it seems a strange move.
Buffalo Park is a small ground not far from the ocean and the forecast looks encouraging for the clash, but be sure to check in closer to match time.

South Africa v England 1st Twenty20 betting tips

We have looked at the matches played at this beautiful cricket ground and recent form to come up with some value selections for this match. Click here to read more about betting on cricket.

Jon Jon Smuts top scorer for SA at $7

A bit of unusual one here but Smuts looked quite at home after making his ODI debut against England. The added bonus here is he is playing on home turf as he plies his trade for Eastern Province in South African domestic cricket. He is a late bloomer and something of a T20 specialist so could be also worth a small bet in the man-of-the-match category.

Jason Roy top-scorer for England

Roy is an enigma. He comes in and blazes away and looks shocked whenever he is dismissed. But he is certainly one of the best strikers of a cricket ball going are at the moment. He can be hit and miss but in T20 cricket he can go in and blaze away with no real pressure. We will give him one last chance to get the money for us.

South Africa v England predictions – 1st T20, Feb 13, 2020

The only other T20 International match played at this ground resulted in a win for New Zealand over South Africa with towering opener Martin Guptill making an unbeaten 101. In 20-odd ODIs played here it has been a reasonably high-scoring ground without being out of control in favour of the batsmen. We expect the team batting first to make 160-odd. We think England have enough firepower all the way down the batting order to win this one. Their spinners found form in the ODIs and also should play a big part.
