South Africa v England 2nd ODI betting preview, tips, odds update

South Africa v England T20, November 29

This is WGL’s odds update and tips for the second of three one-day internationals at Kingsmead, Durban, on Friday, February 7, 2020.

Bookmakers have assessed the South Africa-England one-dayer in Durban as a lot closer contest after the home team stunned the world champions with an easy win in the series opener in Cape Town.
England were playing their first ODI since winning the ICC World Cup on home turf and their heavy reliance on superstar all-rounder Ben Stoke, being rested for these matches, was apparent against a new-look South Africa.

England, who won the recent Test series against South Africa 3-1, are still firm favourites but must shake off the rustiness apparent at Newlands, where they crashed from 0-50 to 6-131.
Captain Eoin Morgan said England would keep the faith with the new players.
“I think the two guys making their debuts. [Wicketkeeper batsman] Tom Banton and [leg-spinner] Matt Parkinson, have come in and seen what international cricket is like,’’ he told crininfo. “They’ve had a little glimpse of T20 international cricket but it’s not all crash, bang, wallop, like we’ve seen today. So they learn a lot from tonight.”
England desperately need to find a way to curb South Africa captain Quinton de Kock, whose century guide his team to victory in Cape Town and was also a handful the only Proteas batsman to shine during the Test series.

South Africa v England 2nd ODI betting tips

We have scoured recent results at this ground and betting markets to come up some value bets for the second one-dayer. Click here for more information about betting on cricket.

Andile Phehlukwayo man of the match at $21

Phehlukwayo was born in Durban and his ODI record at this ground is outstanding. He has his best match figures of 4-22 here and also has made plenty of valuable runs down the order. If South Africa can complete another surprise win over the World champions, there is every chance the all-rounder will have had a big say.

Jason Roy top scorer for England at $3.75

The opener looked a lot more fluent in the opening match than his partner Jonny Bairstow and will be kicking himself for his soft dismissal. If he can rein in his aggressive instincts ever so slightly he is the sort of powerful performer who can put England back in the series with a quick-fire ton.

No century in match at $2.63

Kingsmead is not always renowned as super high-scoring ground, though that can happen at time. The forecast is for possible showers and that could also complicate the issue. Be sure to check the forecast as late as possible before placing a bet on the game.

South Africa v England predictions – 2nd ODI, Feb 7, 2020

England will have been stung by the ease with which they were dispatched in the series opener and will be a lot more steely in their batting in this encounter. Of course, they had an almost completely different squad than the one which won the Test series in great style so they will be better for the hitout. We expect them to hit back hard but will not be risking our hard-earned on them at the $1.58 to win now that the Proteas have a sniff of a surprise series win. Good punting.
