GGPoker review

GGPoker is one of the most well-known real money poker websites globally, with the chief ambassador being one of the world’s best players Daniel Negreanu, and they host everything from low stakes fixed limit Texas Hold’em tournaments, right through to cash games and various types of poker. GGpoker is exceptionally popular with players because of their high guaranteed prizes and the fact there is always action. This platform also hosts some of the biggest events globally, worth millions of dollars and featuring all of the major names in online poker. GGPoker is accessible across all major platforms, including computer, Android and iOS, while they also have a nice welcome bonus our readers can take advantage of.

GGPoker sign up bonus offer

GGPoker welcome bonus

GGPoker offers new players their choice of sign up bonuses, with these being either $100 in rewards, or a 100% matched deposit bonus up to the value of $600.

GGPoker $100 rewards offer

The GGPoker $100 rewards welcome offer essentially gifts you tickets and cash game dollars to try the website out. This is a no deposit GGPoker bonus offer.

GGPoker sign up welcome bonus

The other GGPoker sign up bonus is a 100% deposit bonus up to the value of $600. This means GGPoker will match your first deposit up to the value of $600.

However the catch is that this GGPoker bonus money is not unlocked to use as you want. $1 is unlocked for every $5 paid net rake/tournament fees.

To get started at GGPoker and claim either bonus, register a new account, visit the cashier section and choose your bonus, and then make your first deposit into the real money poker website.

GGPoker review

GGPoker is arguably the no.1 poker room in the world, with high-profile endorsements from the likes of Fedor Holz, Kevin Martin, Felipe Mojave, Andy Stacks, and Hristivoje Pavlovic, on top of Negreanu being all over their advertising.

With more than 12 different licenses globally, GGPoker has a massive reach in the poker world, with this brand operating in the likes of Canada (including Ontario), the United Kingdom, Malta, Lithuania, Finland and various others.

Basically, if GGPoker is licensed in a region they will almost certainly abide by all the regulator’s demands and we have not heard of them doing anything nefarious.

While the Texas Hold’em action is what we have mainly taken part in at GGPoker, they do host many different types of poker, and the amount of players is usually pretty healthy.

With a player base that draws on Asia, Europe and others the traffic at GGPoker is one of its biggest drawcard’s. In our experiences, researching for this GGPoker review, the players are a mix of recreational and strong, while the stakes are varied enough to suit most players.

Another highlight of GGPoker is their massive tournaments, with this poker room partnered up with the World Series of Poker Online event, which features massive prizes and most of the world’s best players.

There are multi-table tournaments frequently kicking off on GGPoker, while their satellite structure is one of our favourites. For those unfamiliar with a satellite, they essentially let you play for lower stakes for a ticket into a bigger event.

Poker variants available include:

  • Texas Hold’em (cash games, tournaments)
  • Omaha (including Pot-Limit Omaha) (
  • Short Deck (6+ Hold’em) and other variants.
  • Fast-fold formats (“Rush & Cash”) where you fold and immediately move to a new hand. \
  • Special formats: e.g., Spin & Gold, Mystery Bounty, etc.

GGPoker app access and downloads

GGPoker apps download

GGPoker has got fully functional apps for Windows, Mac products, Android and iOS with their software among the best in the business.

If there is one consistent complaint we have heard about GGPoker it is that their platform can be too busy, or too full of features – but once you have played on there for a while, it’s easy to navigate and hasn’t posed a problem for us.

The GGPoker app download can be completed from their website, with it exceptionally easy to find. They also list all current requirements when downloading the version of the app.

The GGPoker app is well established in various regions including Canada, Europe, Philippines and various others, meaning it caters to various languages, payment types and currencies.

Here are the specifics of the GGBet Apps for each device.

Windows

The GGPoker client for windows can be downloaded on any recently updated computer, and the stats aren’t too daunting for your computer to handle.

The GGPoker client for windows is best-in-class and we have heard very few complaints about this software.

  • Windows 8 (Windows 10 recommended)
  • 3 GHz processor (Intel Core i3 or higher recommended)
  • 2 GB RAM (4 GB or greater recommended)
  • 3 GB of free disk space (10 GB or greater recommended)

Android

Downloading the Android GGPoker client is arguably the most straight-forward, with it either coming directly from GGPoker or via the Google Play store, depending on your location,

The Android GGPoker app again has very few faults and is well-designed, making it a great option to play real money poker.

  • Android OS 6.0.xx Marshmellow (10.0 or higher recommended)
  • 2 GB RAM (3 GB or greater recommended)
  • 500 MB of free disk space (1 GB or greater recommended)

Mac

The GGPoker Mac client looks and acts much the same as the Windows offering, with it available to download via the App Store in markets the company is active.

This tester was on a Mac for the bulk of researching this review and had zero issues. The file is bug free and downloaded within a few minutes.

  • OS X 10.13 or higher
  • 3 GHz processor (Intel Core i3 or higher recommended)
  • 2 GB RAM (4 GB or greater recommended)
  • 3 GB of free disk space (10 GB or greater recommended)

IOS

iOS users have not been left out in the cold by GGPoker, with their outstanding app available on Apple smartphons and tablets.

Unlike Android, on iOS you must download direct from the App Store, meaning if you want to play on your smartphone or tablet, you will almost certainly have to be in a country where GGPoker is licensed or in a grey market.

  • iPhone 6S / iPad Air 2 / iPad Mini 4 (iPhone X or higher, iPad 7 / iPad Air 3 / iPad Pro 2 /iPad Mini 5 or higher recommended)
  • 3 GB RAM or greater recommended
  • 500 MB of free disk space (1 GB or greater recommended)

GGPoker payment types

GGPoker has got various payment types with these different in each location they cater to, although there are some standards like credit and debit cards, web wallets and payment processors.

Basically, GGPoker will only display the payment options suitable for your region and currency. As an example, they are licensed in the UK, via their Isle of Man license, and they have got MuchBetter payments, which is a web wallet solution popular in this part of the world. Other places may not have access to this GGPoker deposit option.

Cryptos are another prime example of popular payments at GGPoker, with these being available in certain jurisdictions, while others, UK and Ontario included, are not allowed to fund their accounts with bitcoin or other popular coins.

Almost all payments at GGPoker are instant, and have no fees, meaning you can fund your account and begin playing within minutes in most cases.

GGPoker licensing and global availability

GGPoker is constantly expanding their footprint, and they hold many of the most powerful licenses in the industry, with this including the United Kingdom, Malta and the Isle of Man. They have also become one of the first poker rooms to hold a license in Asia, after receiving their seal of approval in the Philippines, from PAGCOR.

GGPoker abides by the laws of all of their legal jurisdictions, but it’s worth noting they do so via different URLs. For instance. GGPoker.ca services Ontario in Canada, where players are ring-fenced (or only play against other Ontarians) while the rest of the country plays on the .com URL and plays against the global pool. These are the kind of tightrope GGPoker runs when licensed by so many jurisdictions.

Other countries where GGPoker is licensed to operate include the Netherlands and much of Europe, with this courtest of their Malta Gaming Authority license.

Gambling licenses held by GGPoker include:

  • United Kingdom (UKGC) — NSUS Limited

GGPoker history

GGPoker traces its roots to the network known as the GGNetwork, launched around 2014, initially aimed at the Asian online poker market. Although the brand often promotes a 2017 “launch” date for its more modern version, the underlying network began earlier.

GGPoker was founded with the intention of appealing to both experienced players and newcomers, offering poker play with a fresh, user-friendly interface. GGPoker became prominent as the global expansion kicked in: in 2017 it secured a UK licence allowing entrance into Europe. The significant breakout moment came in 2020 when, during the pandemic, GGPoker ran the online segment of the WSOP (World Series of Poker) main event and set a Guinness World Record for largest online poker tournament prize pool.

Another major milestone was its entrance into the Philippines-regulated gambling market — it secured a licence there, making it one of the first regulated poker rooms in that jurisdiction. Regarding product offering: GGPoker is primarily a poker platform. However, in many markets the operator has also introduced casino-games (slots, table games) in its “Casino” section.

GGPoker review verdict

GGPoker is clearly one of the top poker sites globally, with their footprint in regulated markets simply outstanding, although we would love to see them pushing into the US at some point. GGPoker’s modern interface, outstanding initiatives (like their cool avatars for players) and their constant experimentation and improvements have made them into a very powerful player in online gambling. GGPoker has a massive player base, with the standard ranging from high, right through to beginners. There really is enough incentive to keep playing at GGPoker. Overall, after carefully researcing for this GGPoker review, we have no hesitation in recommending their sign up bonus and telling our readers to play at this online poker behemoth.
