Australian racing tips for June 27, 2026
The Queensland winter carnival draws to a close with the Tattersall’s Tiara meeting at Eagle Farm, and that $700,000 race also serves as the final Group 1 race of the Australian season.
Our racing experts have had a successful carnival overall despite tough conditions thrown up by heavy tracks at many of the major Brisbane meetings.
Followers who stuck solid were rewarded last Saturday on Eye Liner Stakes at Ipswich when our tipsters were right on the money at Ipswich and elsewhere, including tipping the trifecta in order on the Gai Watehouse Classic and missing the first four by a lip.
The Tattersall’s Tiara meeting will again be run on a rain-affected track, and the main race is wide open, with the main contenders having raced well over earlier meetings at the same track.
Grahame Begg’s Splash Back has run well in Group 1s against open company and is the early favourite for this race for fillies and mares, but given you can secure at least $6 about her, there is value for whatever you want to back.
We have run the rule over the three Group races at Eagle Farm as well as listed contests at Rosehill and Morphettville Parks, while there are also strong metro meetings at Caulfield in Melbourne and Belmont Park in WA on a strong winter’s day of Australian racing.
Read on for our best bets of the day for Saturday, June 27, 2026.
Eagle Farm Race 6
Group 3 Tattersall’s Cup (2400m)
This will be tactical affair with only six runners and all are seasoned and well-exposed stayers. (5) Pounding has struck a purple patch of form and last start ran second in the Group 2 2200m race here at big odds. A repeat of that run would be good enough to win this race and he should get a good trail for Luke Nolen behind the likely favourite and front-runner (2) Future History. The latter stayer should be at his peak at his third run back from a spell and is ridden by a master front-running rider in Nash Rawiller. (1) Asterix is at his best over this distance, but in reality you can’t rule out any of the combatants.
Rupert McIntosh tips: 5,2,4,1. Best bet: Stick with Pounding as he should get the perfect run.
Eagle Farm Race 8
Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m)
As mentioned above this is a wide open affair, but the favourite (1) Splash Back looks to have a distinct class edge and is drawn well in gate six. Four of her eight wins have come at the 1400m and she was not far away in the Stradbroke Handicap last start, indicating the track hold no fears. The filly (17) Within The Law is on an upward spiral and while she was good last start when second to the smart Skyhook, she might be fitter again for this contest. We were on (9) Melody Again last weekend when she was an unlucky fourth in the Eye Liner and on the quick back-up she should run well against her own sex and decent double-figure odds. (3) Manaal was a little unlucky last too, in the Group 2 Moreton Cup, and she could be challenging Splash Back for favouritism come race time.
Rupert McIntosh tips: 1,17,9,4. Best bet: Splash Back each-way and maybe box up 1,4,9,17 in the quinella/trifecta.
Eagle Farm Race 9
Group 3 Eureka Stud W.J. Healy Stakes (1200m)
(11) Pereille has an incredibly consistent record so you can forgive him last start when a disappointing eighth in the Listed Hinkler Stakes over this track and distance. He has finished in the top two at 19 of his 35 starts and this race looks ideal at his fourth run back from a spell. (15) Moravia can sprint well fresh at big odds, with jockey Taylor Marshall in good form. (2) Yellow Brick is a quality sprinter and will find this more to his liking aftert finishing well back in the Stradbroke Handicap last time. The chances by no means end there. (6) Oak Hill was unlucky when second in a similoar race last start but should get all the breaks this time from gate three for Victoria-based jockey Daniel Stackhouse.
Rupert McIntosh tips: 11,2,15,6. Best bet: Pereille each-way to finish the carnival on a high. But a great race to box up your picks in a quinella or trifecta.
Rosehill Race 8
LR TAB W J McKell Cup (2000m)
(2) Know Thyself has been just fair in two runs from a spell but shapes as though the 2000m now willsuit down to the ground. Gun provincial jockey Aaron Bullock makes the trip to Sydney to ride the gelding which has displayed obvious ability with eight wins from only 15 starts. He just appeals as having more upside than rivals here. (4) God’s Window is the favourite for the race based on a string of good runs in similar company. He hails from the powerful Chris Waller stable and this would be his grand final. (6) Zaphod has similar form-lines to the favourite and if they are the right form lines, these two may well quinella the race, though we are going for the expected upside with Know Thyself. (3) Maison Louis is better than what he has shown of late and could be getting home late.
Rupert McIntosh tips: 2,6,3,4. Best bet: Know Thyself to return to peak form.
Morphettville Parks Race 5
LR Sportsbet David Peacock Oaklands Plate (1400m)
This listed race for two-year-olds looks a good betting medium and we think (10) Adakite is well suited out to 1400m and could cause a mintor boilover here. The Pierro filly has hit the line well at both here starts today and should be peakig for this rich race. The favourite and topweight (1) Lalor is classy type but has yet to win in three starts. No knock on him but there are others that may offer better value, including (5) Mountjoy, which has the outside barrier to contend with but will likely get back anyway and come with one run in a race in which there should be pressure on up front. (12) Glitzy Golden Girl is at huge odds but could be the surprise packet, while (7) Tweeter will give them something to chase.
Rupert McIntosh tips: 10,1,12,5. Best bet: Try the good each-way odds about Adakite.
