Welcome to our Australia v England tips, prediction and odds update ahead of the first…
Welcome to our Ashleigh Barty v Karolina Pliskova betting tips, prediction and odds update, ahead of the Wimbledon final being played on Saturday night, Australian time.
World No.1 Barty will not only carry the hopes of Australia with her, but will also have expectation from punters worldwide, after being installed a $1.37 favourite.
Her opponent, Czech Karolina Pliskova ($3.02), is an outsider with Australian bookmakers, but has strung together an outstanding fortnight at the All England Lawn Tennis Club.
Barty, 25, is chasing her first Wimbledon crown to go with her success at the 2019 French Open, with her best result at the grass grand slam a fourth-round appearance in the same year.
Pliskova reached world no.1 in 2017 but is yet to win a grand slam, with her best result reaching the final of the 2016 US Open, which she lost to Angelique Kerber, who Barty defeated here in the semi-finals.
Pliskova defeated No.2 seed Aryna Sabalenka in the semi-finals in three sets, but prior to that had not dropped a set at the tournament.
Barty, who came into Wimbledon under an injury cloud, has been similarly impressive, dropping just one set for the tournament, in the opening round to Carla Suarez Navarro. Barty dismissed world no.25 Kerber 6-3, 7-6 in the semi-finals.
Barty leads Pliskova 5-2 in head-to-head meetings, with their grass clashes split 1-1, although there is little to be read into this with their last meeting on this surface coming in 2016 at Nottingham. Barty has won the past three encounters between the pair, but the last two have gone the distance.
Our tennis betting guru has assessed the Barty v Pliskova betting and found some value tips:
Barty could not have been any more impressive in her semi-final against Kerber, but we can see the final going the distance. The Australia just seems to have a little bit more consistency than her opponent, who has had somewhat of a resurgence this year. Barty to win 2-1 is paying around the $3.80 mark with TopSport.
Both of these players are outstanding when serving, although Barty can be nervous on her second serve. We think the first set is likely to follow serve. If both players come out firing breaks of serve will be hard to come by and we think the over 10.5 games in the set is offering good value at $3.60 (View all Australian betting sites).
Australia’s world no.1 is the justifiable favourite in this game, but Pliskova has taken Wimbledon by storm this year. Barty’s greater consistency and we think fitness, will play a key role in her becoming the first female Wimbledon champion from Australia, since Evonne Goolagong Cawley, who won the Grand Slam in 1971 and 1980. Our final Barty v Pliskova prediction? Ash Barty in three sets.
