NRL Round 19 schedule, odds, title betting — Storm tighten grip on NRL

NRL Round 19 is scheduled to start on Thursday, July 22, with the Parramatta v Canberra clash from Cbus Super Stadium on the Gold Coast.

All matches for the round will be played in Queensland, where all the NRL teams have relocated because of Covid-19 outbreaks in NSW and Victoria.

Australian bookmakers have made the Eels short-priced favourites at around $1.26, with the ninth-placed Raiders at $3.75 and there plenty at stake for both teams.

Ricky Stuart’s side needs a win to stay right in the hunt for a finals spot, while Parra can shore up their top-four spot as they sit among the teams most likely to challenge big guns Melbourne and Penrith come finals time.

The Roosters are similarly short-priced favourites in the early match on Friday as they try to keep the pressure on the Eels for a top-four spot when they take on the Knights at Sunshine Coast Stadium.

The Knights have worked their way to 10th after a terrible start to the season, but they are decimated for this clash with brilliant fullback Kalyn Ponga and prop David Klemmer suffering head knocks and unlikely to be available, along with halfback Mitch Pearce (hamstring).

On Super Saturday, Souths will be without flying winger Alex Johnston (hamstring) when they take on the New Zealand Warriors at Sunshine Coast Stadium, while the Kiwis have lost star forward Tohu Harris to a serious knee injury.

That match is followed by a double-header at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, while the round concludes with another double-header, this time at Cbus Super Stadium at the Gold Coast, on Sunday.

NRL Premiership odds before Round 19

Melbourne have tightened their grip further on betting for the NRL title as they shortened to $2.40 with leading Australian bookies TopSport.

Melbourne are in good shape with the finals starting to loom, while the powerful Panthers have a few injury concerns and are sweating on the return of star halves Nathan Cleary (shoulder) and Jarome Luai (knee).

Penrith are out to $3.50, while Parramatta moved from $11 to $9.50 as they took a firm grip on a top-four spot, while Manly are the only other team given much team, firming from $14 to $12.

Sydney Roosters were all the way out to $21, while the Raiders were $126 to $51 but they will ease again if they can’t upset the Eels on Thursday night.

Elsewhere the Knights’ season looks dead as they blew from $51 to $81 and the same could be said for the inconsistent Titans ($101 to $151).
