Welcome to our Sydney v Fremantle betting tips and winner prediction for their AFL round 17 clash at the SCG on Sunday.
The Swans, who have looked a different team since Errol Gulden’s return from injury, are $1.58 to defeat the Dockers ($2.40), with Neds betting setting the $1.90 line at 8.5 points.
Sydney fought gallantly and almost caused an upset against Western Bulldogs last round, but ultimately went down by nine points, despite missing their best key forward and back.
They will return against the Dockers, with Tom McCartin set to bolster the defence, while Joel Amartey will give the Swans attack a boost. Joel Hamling has also been recalled.
Aaron Francis, Dane Rampe and Oliver Florent go out of the Swans line-up.
The Dockers have rattled off six successive wins since they were beaten by Collingwood in round nine, with Justin Longmuir’s team beginning to show why they were among the premiership fancies pre-season.
Freo will be boosted by captain Alex Pearce and veteran Jaegar O’Meraa, with the pair replacing Nat Fyfe and Oscar McDonald. Dockers ace Shai Bolton will play his 150 AFL match after beginning his career at Richmond.

Our AFL betting expert has assessed the markets and found some value Sydney v Fremantle tips:
Both Sydney and Fremantle are inclined to get their defensive structures right, and go from there. With both teams still contention to reach September, expect it hard, tough and low-scoring. Under 159.5 total points is paying $1.90 with Neds.
Dockers stars Andrew Brayshaw and Caleb Serong are almost locks to gather 25 touches each week, although the latter let us down last week. Given the amount we’ve won on him in the past, we’ll happily forgive him and include both for 25+ touches. On the Swans side, Callum Mills has been prolific in his return and seems to be playing more midfield minutes under Dean Cox. Steer clear of Isaac Heeney who has been spending long chunks forward with their returned midfield stars back in the team.
The fiery Docker is due after a few quiet weeks. He runs straight and can be the man who gets out the back. You’re also unlikely to get the $2.70 with betting sites for him to kick 2+ very often.
Fremantle can go a long way to stitching up a finals position with a win here, but the Swans are beginning to motor. We’ll confidently say we think it will be close, but we are angling towards, if we put a winner in, using the margin betting market “tri-bet”, which will allow us to pick either team to win by under 24.5. The Swans home ground advantage should not be underestimated here. Our final Swans v Dockers prediction? Sydney by 11 points.
