Storm v Raiders free betting tips, predictions, odds in NRL Round 22
Welcome to our Melbourne Storm v Canberra Raiders match preview and free betting tips for the round-22 NRL clash at Sunshine Coast Stadium on Thursday night, August 12.
Bookmakers have understandably made the Storm unbackable favourites at around $1.06, and set the points spread at 24.5 points, which is incredible when you consider the Raiders are in eighth spot and in pretty good form of late, too.

Ricky Stuart’s Raider have won four of their past five matches to get back into the finals mix, but looking at it objectively the wins have come against a weakened Manly, a struggling Parramatta and mid-table battlers Cronulla and St George Illawarra.
Meanwhile, Melbourne are seeking an 18th consecutive win and they have beaten, well, everyone.
The Storm have also won their past three matches against the Raiders, including a 34-10 win in Canberra earlier this season.
They have also put together an unbeaten 8-0 record at Sunshine Coast Stadium since they made it their home away from home during the Covid19-affected 2020 season.
Raiders regain flyer Bailey Simonsson
Ricky Stuart’s team gets a lift with Simonsson fit again after a toe injury and expected to play fullback, with Jordan Rapana moving to wing to replace the injured Semi Valemei (throat).
Melbourne Storm have named comeback star Ryan Papenhuyzen despite him suffering a knock to his knee in the fighting win against Manly last weekend.

Storm v Raiders free betting tips
Our NRL betting expert has examined Storm-Raiders betting markets and found some value tips:
Canberra Raiders +26.5 points/match total over 48.5
This match is a massive test for where Canberra stand in the lead-up to the finals. But that start on offer with Topsport is also massive, and while the Storm have proven to be a ruthless team, that sort of line just looks outrageous against a team that is genuinely starting to find some form again. We are happy to back the Raiders to make life tough for the title favourites.
Tom Starling to score a try
The Canberra back-up hooker is fast becoming one of our favourites players. He is not big but is lightning quick and reminds us a lot of another of our favourites in South hooker Damien Cook. The $9.25 on offer for Starling to score a four-pointer is enough to hook us for a small wager.
Melbourne Storm v Canberra Raiders prediction 12/8/2021
We have no doubt the Raiders will put in a better showing than the betting sites are expecting in this one. They key is not to get blown away early, as Manly showed against the Storm last weekend. Of course, it’s easier said than done but the Raiders do have a little character about them. Stuart will enjoy the underdogs tag and the team has enough talent to stage some sort of challenge. In the end the Storm will be a little too good, but it certainly is match worth watching in regards to where the Raiders will finish up this season. Storm v Raiders final prediction: Storm by 10 points.
