Peter Dutton is losing Federal Election

Anthony Albanese will win a second term in government according to Australian bookmakers, with the ALP at Winx-like odds to win Saturday’s election.

The expected result means Albanese will become the first prime minister to hold office in successive terms since the John Howard era.

Albanese, on the back of strong showings in the three leaders debates, now holds a strong lead over LNP’s Peter Dutton as preferred prime minister, with this reflected in the latest betting odds.

Labor is now $1.16 to win the election, while the LNP has ballooned out to $5, with the unlikely “Any other party” result paying over $200.

Australian betting sites are also banking on a Hung Parliament, with no party to secure 76 or more seats paying $1.40, with the opposite result as long as $2.75.

Bookmakers have got the most likely result being Labor governing in a minority ($2), while a Labor majority ($4.75) and coalition minority ($4.75) are the next most likely results.

Australian media has reported Dutton’s seat of Dickson is under threat, however this is not reflected in the bookmaker odds. He is paying $1.50 to retain his seat, while ALP candidate Ali France ($2.75) is considered an outsider.

Australians can bet on politics at various online bookmakers, with our selection for the 2025 election, being PlayUp Australia (PlayUp review).
