Bulldogs v Hawks betting tips, AFL round 13, 2025

Hawthorn desperately needs to respond after a sub-par showing, but they face another top eight threat the Western Bulldogs in round 13 AFL action on Thursday night.

The sixth-placed Hawks have been installed a $2.75 outsider to defeat the ninth-placed Western Bulldogs ($1.44) by Australian betting sites, with the line blowing out to 14.5 points.

Sam Mitchell’s troops will be smarting following their poor showing against Collingwood on Friday night, when other than a Jack Ginnivan career-best performance, they failed to fire a shot against the impressive Pies.

The Hawks could be boosted by the inclusion of Luke Bruest for this clash, but they have lost skipper James Sicily for at least a fortnight with a hip injury as well as livewire forward Nick Watson to illness.

The Bulldogs are coming off a close loss to Geelong and have lost two of their last three, but have defied a horror run of injuries to remain one of the buzz teams and are expected to push for a top four position in the second half of 2025.

The Bulldogs will resist the temptation to rush Sam Darcy back, but the talented forward is likely to miss just one more game, after surpassing expectations in his recovery from a knee injury. They could however include star ball winner Adam Treloar who has trained strongly in the last week.

Western Bulldogs v Hawthorn tips

Our AFL betting expert has cast their eye over the odds and found some value Hawthorn v Western Bulldogs betting tips:

Jack Ginnivan to kick 2+ goals

It’s the second successive time Ginnivan has played a great game against his old team, Collingwood. The Hawks need “Ginni” to produce that kind of game more often, and they will be hoping he has turned the corner for 2025. Ginnivan to kick 2+ goals is offering a juicy $2.20.

Tom Liberatore to get 25+ disposals

Libba is the Dogs’ heart and soul player and he will have a big job to do against the likes of James Worpel and Jai Newcomebe. If Liberatore finds it 25+ times the outside dash of Ed Richards and the Bont, among others will go a long way to them winning.

Western Bulldogs to win 1-39 points

The Bulldogs are in better physical and mental shape than Sam Mitchell’s team, but we can’t see them thrashing the Hawks. Expect the class of the Dogs to shine through in the second half and them to ease in by 20-odd points, with the 1-39 point margin betting our pick.

Bulldogs v Hawthorn prediction

The Hawks just don’t have enough avenues to score goals at the moment and we can’t see it turning around this week. If they were to cause an upset, it would require someone like Mabior Chol to fire. We’re confident the Dogs’ greater forward options and better midfield will get the job done here. Our final Bulldogs v Hawthorn prediction? Bulldogs by 21 points.
