Carlton v Melbourne tips for AFL round 19, 2025

Welcome to our Carlton v Melbourne betting tips and winner prediction for their AFL round 19 clash at the MCG on Saturday.

The Demons are favourites with PlayUp Australia to win this clash, priced at $1.53, while the struggling Blues are at $2.58 and sliding. AFL bookmakers have set the Blues v Demons line at 12.5 points.

The Blues are coming off a 37-point loss to Brisbane in Melbourne, which is nowhere near their worst performance in recent times.

They will be boosted by running defender Adam Saad, Francis Evans and Will White; but they will lose experienced forwards Orazio Fantasia and Mitch McGovern, while Alex Cincotta has been dropped.

Melbourne snapped their losing streak on Sunday when they defeated North Melbourne by 36 points, with their star man Christian Petracca racking up 31 possessions, while veteran forward Jake Melksham booted five goals.

The Demons have recalled Steven May and Harry Sharp, replacing Jake Lever and Tom Sparrow.

Carlton v Melbourne betting tips

Our AFL betting expert has cast their eye over the odds and found some value Blues v Demons tips:

Jacob van Rooyen 2+ goals

The young forward has not been in the best form this season, but we liked what we saw against the Roos. He worked hard, kicked a major, had 17 possessions and we think he might get his rewards this week. Given his run of quiet form he’s also paying a juicy $2.75 to kick 2+ goals.

Christian Petracca 25+ possessions

The Demons talisman was great last round and looks to have overcome the serious injuries that almost derailed his career. The Blues have not tagged this year, preferring to back in their own underperforming midfield. We think Petracca might make them regret not sending someone to mind him. He is paying $1.52 to reach 25.

Adam Cerra 25+ possessions

Cerra has not been the Blues worst this year, and has consistently notched up over 25 possessions in a game. He is paying $1.94 to reach these heights.

Blues v Demons prediction

We are going with the Demons here, not because we’re confident in them, but because we’r econfident the Blues are no good. We probably will avoid a winner when betting on this one, just because we can see the Demons choking. But if we are forced to pick, our final Carlton v Melbourne prediction would be: Demons by 22 points.
