Collingwood v Adelaide betting tips and prediction for AFL round 10, 2025

Collingwood will need to overcome their latest spate of injuries if they are to defeat Adelaide at the MCG on Saturday.

The Magpies are a $1.51 favourite to defeat the Crows ($2.56), but they will have to do it without another key defender against a team with an imposing forward line, after captain Darcy Moore was ruled out with a shoulder injury.

The Magpies have also lost gutsy small Lachie Shultz after his sickening collision with a Fremantle opponent sent him into concussion protocols. They will regain veteran Scott Pendlebury, defender Brayden Maynard and forward Brodie Mihocek, but were unable to consider Jordan de Goey because of a fresh achilles injury. Oleg Markov, who was the emergency against Fremantle, was dropped.

Adelaide has named an unchanged line-up to the outfit that defeated Port Adelaide in the Showdown on Saturday night. The Crows five-point victory was set up by their dominant key forwards (both Riley Thilthorpe and Darcy Fogarty kicked three goals), the magnificent Izak Rankine and a very even performance from their midfield.

The second-placed Magpies are a different proposition for the Crows and they will need to adjust their gameplan if the predicted wet weather hits Melbourne during the game, with the Pies veterans well-versed in these conditions. The Crows have Sid Draper, Chris Burgess and Brodie Smith as their emergencies and a late change would not shock.

Collingwood v Adelaide betting tips

Our AFL betting expert has assessed the teams and found some value Collingwood v Adelaide tips:

Darcy Fogarty to kick 2+ goals

The Magpies are going to be missing their captain and best key defender with Darcy Moore going out of the line-up that defeated Fremantle. This leaves the Magpies short down back against Riley Thilthorpe, Taylor Walker and Fogarty. We think Fogarty might be the one to get a size mismatch on Jeremy Howe and if he can get some fast service from their mids, the predicted wet conditions might suit him. Fogarty is paying $1.92 to kick 2+ goals.

Ned Long to get 20 possessions

One to pad your same game multis, Long will play an inside role and with queries around Nick Daicos’s fitness, he is likely to spend a lot of time around the ball. While we won’t be putting Daicos in for possessions, Pies veterans Steele Sidebottom and Scott Pendlebury have traditionally thrived in the wet and offer value for 20+. We’ll be having something on Sidebottom to rack up 25+ at $1.22 with AFL betting sites, but Long might be better value at $1.80 to gather 20+.

Josh Daicos 25+ possessions

The older Daicos brother has been in scintillating form this season, despite a quieter week against Fremantle, and with him often being entrusted with kickins, a role he is likely to get a lot with no Moore, 25+ possessions looks like a good bet. The Crows have also show a penchant for allowing opposition teams half backs to run free, in an attempt to free up their own runners, which could play into Daicos’ hands. Josh is paying $1.50 with Aussie betting sites to gather 25+.

Under 169.5 total points

It’s going to be wet on the MCG and the Magpies need to restrict a forward line brimming with talent. We can see Craig McRae’s men turning this into a slog and the 169.5 over/under market has piqued our interest. While we will keep an eye on the conditions, this is likely to be a leg in our same game multi on this game.

Collingwood v Adelaide prediction 17/5

Collingwood deserves to be favourite in this encounter after their win in the west and a longer break than their opponent. A potentially wet MCG will also help the Magpies, given the Crows bevy of tall forwards and Moore being injured. Adelaide does however play well at the MCG and they have lost by two and four points to this team in their last two games at this ground. Expect a low-scoring slog in this one and if we’re forced to pick, we think it will be a Magpies win. Our final Collingwood v Adelaide prediction? Magpies by three points.
