Roosters v Sea Eagles free tips & odds, NRL Friday, round 2, 2022
Sydney Roosters and Manly Warringah, two of the NRL heavyweights, clash in round 2 on…
The Roosters host title favourites Melbourne Storm in the opening match of NRL round 21 and it’s pretty much do or die for the 10th-placed home team after their 31-18 loss to the Sharks last weekend.
Trent Robinson’s team could still make the top eight even with a loss to the high-flying Storm but you would not bet on it. And the recent history between the teams makes for grim reading for Roosters fans hopeful their team can spring an upset.

Melbourne Storm have won 11 of the past 12 clashes between the teams and the past six on the bounce, including a 48-18 thrashing in the finals last season. Craig Bellamy’s Storm have won their past 19 matches when coming off a loss, and last weekend they suffered a shock 18-16 defeat against a brave Manly side in Melbourne.
The Roosters face Manly, the free-scoring Dolphins and the second-placed Bulldogs in the next three rounds, so they need to find an extraordinary burst of good form to have any hope of taking part in the finals action in 2025..
Roosters centre Billy Smith (concussion) and lock Victor Radley (shoulder) are sidelined while Siua Wong returns from a knee injury. Hugo Savala (wrist) is named in the reserves.
Melbourne talisman Cameron Munster will miss the match to attend his father’s funeral, while Melbourne will also be without giant prop Nelson Asofa-Solomona, who was offered a two-match ban for hitting the Sea Eagles’ Jake Simpkin in the face with an elbow.
Dynamic fullback Ryan Papenhuyzen is still on the sidelines with a calf injury.

Our NRL betting expert has highlighted his free tips for Thursday night’s game.
This one should have the feel of a semi-final, with tries hard to come by, so we favour the unders in the match total market. There has been plenty of money early in the week for the Roosters but we will stick with the quality of the Melbourne side.. This selection is at around $3.60 with online betting sites.
The Storm centre has been in superb try-scoring form this season with 10 from 16 matches. He has missed out the last month or so but is due to break the drought here. This option is around $2.25 with most Aussie bookmakers.
Not having Munster calling the shots will hurt the Storm, but they have a capable fill-in in Tyran Wishart, while halfback Jahrome Hughes has been in great form. The Roosters will be desperate for this one but we have to stick with the title favourites to continue their long run of avoiding two losses on the bounces.. Our final Sydney Roosters-Melbourne prediction? Storm by 4 points.
