Australia v Pakistan predictions, 1st Test betting, Nov 21

Babar Azam is in doubt for the first test against New zealand.

We are predicting Pakistan’s winless Test series record in Australia will continue, with the old foes renewing acquaintances at the Gabba on Thursday.

Remarkably Pakistan have never won a Test match series in Australia, with their best result being two drawn series in the Australian summers of 1976-77 and 1978-79.

Australia’s recent statistics against Pakistan at home are even more dominant, having played the Pakistanis in four three-Test series since the 1999-00 summer, for four 3-0 victories. Remarkable really, that such good Pakistani teams have failed to win a rubber since the 1995-96 summer.

Cricket betting sites are not predicting this record to improve any time soon, with Australia priced at $1.27 and Pakistan at $7.30 for the opening Test, while the draw is paying $7.80.

Australia have included Joe Burns and Michael Neser in the squad for the clash against Pakistan, with Burns seemingly in a battle with Cameron Bancroft to open with David Warner. Neser looks destined to miss out, unless Australia elect to drop Travis Head, who has not been setting the world on fire in domestic cricket.

Pakistan will play under new skipper Azhar Ali for the first time at Test level, after removing Sarfaraz Ahmed from the top job, with the gun batsman showing some positive signs as captain in their demolition of an Australia A line-up in the lead-up to the Test.

Australia vs Pakistan 1st Test odds

Australia v Pakistan head to head odds: Australia $1.27, Pakistan $7.30.
Draw odds: $7.80
Our thoughts on Australia v Pakistan odds: We just can’t see Pakistan winning, and nor can the bookies.

Australia vs Pakistan best bet tips

Below we highlight some of our best bets, ahead of the Pakistan v Australia 1st Test. We have included several bets that offer some value, but obviously have more risk associated with them, while we’ve also included the odds for the Steve Smith show to roll on.

Most wickets betting – Patrick Cummins

Cummins was instrumental in Australia drawing the five-Test series against England, and the conditions will suit in Australia even more, and he is up against a Pakistan team that can struggle against good pace attacks on wickets that offer some life. Cummins is paying $3.50 to top the wickets the first time Australia bowl.

Top Pakistan batsman betting: Babar Azam to top-score

Like Smith for Australia, Babar Azam is the talisman for his team. Boasting a rock solid defence and some marvellous strokeplay, Azam is the real deal. If he doesn’t get you the money in the first-innings, back him to do it in the second innings, because he rarely fails twice in a match. Azam is paying $3 to top the runs for Pakistan in their first innings.

Man of the match betting: Steve Smith

How can you bet against the former Australian skipper in the red ball format after his Ashes campaign? Smith is paying $4.33 for man of the match honours.

Australia vs Pakistan betting prediction

We think Australia are certainties to continue their home-track dominance against Pakistan. We predict the Aussies’ pace bowling attack will prove too much for the subcontinental team, with iron-man paceman Patrick Cummins our pick for player of the series. Our final Australia v Pakistan prediction? Australia by 10 wickets in the opening Test.
