New Zealand v Pakistan betting tips, prediction & odds; 2nd T20 International preview

England v New Zealand first Test

Welcome to our New Zealand v Pakistan betting tips, prediction and odds analysis for the second T20 International at Seddon Park, Hamilton, on Sunday night, December 20.

This is the second of three T20s before New Zealand and Pakistan will square off in two Test matches, with the first of those starting at Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui, on Boxing Day, December 26.

Bookmakers have made the NZ team $1.45 favourites with the Pakistanis $2.80 for the second match.

The Black Caps took a 1-0 lead in the T20 series with their win in Auckland on Friday night, which was a competitive affair on the lively pitch.

The Pakistanis did well to post 153 after they elected to bat first but slumped to 5-39 in the face of superb bowling from debutant Jacob Duffy. The Kiwis had a few hiccups during their chase but in the end got home with seven balls to spare.

The good news for the Kiwis heading into the second match is that they regain top-quality players such as captain Kane Williamson, and pace spearheads Trent Boult and Tim Southee.

Rising leg-spinning all-rounder Shadab Khan will again captain Pakistan in the absence of superstar Babar Azam, who suffered a broken thumb at training and is racing the clock to be ready for the first Test.

New Zealand v Pakistan betting tips

Our cricket tipsters have examined the odds and found several New Zealand v Pakistan tips for Sunday’s T20 clash.

Glenn Phillips to top score for NZ

The South Africa-born right-hander was outstanding in the series against the West Indies recently and looms as a mainstay of the line-up for many years to come. He made a start on Friday night and if he gets in at the right time in this match expect some fireworks. Phillips is in such good touch he looks like hitting almost every ball to or over the boundary.

Shadab Khan most wickets for Pakistan

The stand-in skipper did well with the bat on Friday with 42 to rescue his team’s innings, but he is also a wonderful leggie and that knock should have given him more confidence to attack while bowling this time. His record in the shortest form of the game is outstanding with the ball.

New Zealand v Pakistan prediction 20/12/2020

In theory the return of senior stars such as Kane Williamson should make NZ almost unbeatable in this T20. But of course Pakistan are a class team in the T20 format and also one of the most unpredictable teams in world cricket. They need their top order to fire, not just to have a hope in this game but to find some touch ahead of the Tests. Our final New Zealand v Pakistan prediction? The Black Caps to win again. They are formidable on home soil.
