GLI Approved to Test Online Casino Games in New Zealand
Gaming Laboratories International (GLI) has received approval to provide independent testing services for New Zealand’s emerging regulated online casino market, allowing operators and suppliers to begin preparing their products for regulatory compliance.
The approval comes as New Zealand progresses towards licensing up to 15 online casino operators under the Online Casino Gambling Act 2026, with the Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) overseeing the new regulatory framework.
The DIA has published minimum technical standards and draft testing and monitoring requirements, while the competitive licence allocation process is underway ahead of the formal application stage scheduled for October.
GLI APAC managing director Richard Howarth said the approval would help gambling businesses navigate New Zealand’s technical requirements.
“New Zealand represents an important development for regulated iGaming in the APAC region, and we are delighted that GLI is approved to support this new market,” Howarth said.
“As operators and suppliers prepare for licensing and market entry, our teams are ready to help them understand and efficiently navigate the technical requirements of the new regulatory framework.”
GLI provides testing, certification and cybersecurity services across more than 710 regulated gaming jurisdictions, including through its Australian laboratories in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide.
The company has expanded its Asia-Pacific regulatory presence during 2026, becoming the first independent testing laboratory accredited by Philippine regulator PAGCOR to certify iGaming platforms.
New Zealand’s licensing process remains ongoing, with successful auction participants required to satisfy further regulatory conditions before receiving authorisation to operate.
