Playabets.co.za review & sign-up bonus 2021
Playabets is a South African online betting company licensed by multiple provinces. The bookmaker focuses on sports betting, keno and Lucky Numbers and our Playabets review talks about each of these areas of the company. Playabets bonus offers are also top-notch, and include a sign-up bonus, money back on losses weekly and a refer-a-friend bonus. Continue reading our Playa Bets South Africa review for further information about the entire operation.
PlayaBets was founded in 1990 as a retail betting operation with many shops located across South Africa. In 2014 the company launched its online betting arm and it has also gained a solid foothold here.
PlayaBets primarily is a sports betting company with no horse racing markets, but what they do have is more markets than the average South African online betting site.
On top of the sports betting options at PlayaBets, the company also offers keno BSM; which is a draw-based game that allows you to bet on the results; and lotto betting, which allows you take part, by betting, on various draws from around the world.
Overall the World Gambling List endorses PlayaBets for our readers.
Playabets.co.za bonus offers
Playabets has a R10,000 first deposit bonus, which is available to all new account holders. To be eligible you must create a new account at Playabets and then provide your FICA documents. The big catch with the Playabets bonus us that you must roll over your first deposit five times at odds greater than 7/10. After you do this you can then request your deposit match bonus with customer service (which is live chat and great, by the way).
Refer a friend bonus
Every time you refer a friend to Playabets you will receive a 50 Rand bonus bet.
More Playabet betting promotions
One out Money back: If you miss a multi bet by one leg you will receive up to 10 times your stake back, depending on how many legs you place.
Multibet special: Receive up to 30% extra in bonus bets on multi-bet winnings.
Playa+ Rewards: Get 5% back on losses when you are on a cold streak.
Playa Bets betting markets and odds
The sports betting section of Playabets is where they excel. They probably have more different markets than any other online bookie in South Africa. These include the most popular sports and 1000s of daily markets, and PlayaBets sports betting is well laid out and easy to navigate.
PlayaBets odds are displayed in fractional style and are easy to find after you have selected your sport in the menu, down the left-hand side of the website.
Some of the odds Playabet has available that separate it from other betting sites include esports, which is a blossoming area in sports betting, Australian Football and futures markets on the next Winter Olympics.
Sports betting options at Playabet
Football, cricket, rugby union, rugby league, tennis, basketball, esports, volleyball, boxing, golf, alpine skiing, American football, Athletics, Aussie rules, Badminton, Bowls, Cycling, Darts, football outrights, Formula 1, goalscorers, handball, ice hockey, martial arts, motor sports, ski jumping, snooker, sports specials, winter olympics.
Horse racing at Playa South Africa
Unfortunately Playabets does not have horse racing available to bet on in 2021. The team at the World Gambling List will update this if anything changes in regards to racing in the future.
Playa lotto services
Playa also has betting available on lottery draws from all over the world.
How does this work, you might ask? Well, instead of buying a ticket in a lotto draw, you bet on the outcome, and receive the same payment if you hit a winning combination.
Lotto betting allows you wager on the all the major draws from around the world, including, but not limited to, the USA, New Zealand, Canada and many European draws.
One of the newest things added to the lotto draws at Playabets is the ability to bet on the daily draws in the USA, which are some of the biggest in the world.
Playabets.co.za mobile review & website
While writing our Playabets mobile review, we found they have a fully responsive mobile website, which means it will work perfectly on any smartphone or tablet that you have. Playabets mobile functionality includes everything you would find on the desktop website. Playabets apps are also some of the best in the South African sports betting industry.
Playabets iOS app
Playabets iOS app is available to download from the Apple App store after you have created a new account by visiting Playabets.co.za. You are better off signing up prior to downloading the Playabets iPhone app or you may not be eligible for the new player sign-up bonus.
Playabets Android app
Playabets Android app is available to download from this South African bookmaker after you have created a new account by visiting Playabets.co.za. The Playabets Android app take a matter of minutes to download.
Playa Bet has plenty of easy deposit options for South African punters. The deposits and withdrawals are largely servicing banks in South Africa, which means you can pop into a branch and make a deposit with the details provided by Playa after you sign up. Basically Playa holds accounts at various banks which allows you to deposit quickly into your own betting account.
- Instant EFT: For FNB, ABSA, Nedbank, Investec and Standard bank

- Vouchers: Can be purchased from many retail outlets.
It’s important to note that you must provide your Playa account number when depositing into a bank account held by Playa. The time that it takes for the money to hit your account is determined by your own banking institution, rather than Playa.
PlayaBets withdrawing winning bets
If you are lucky enough to win, PlayaBets has made the withdrawal process exceptionally simple. It’s just a matter of visiting the banking section of the website and choosing withdraw.
The Playabets withdrawal options include bank transfers and cashing out with instant EFT or if you unable to process these withdrawal methods, you can even have a cheque mailed out.
As a general rule the fees for a withdrawal will be set by your bank, or the Playabets withdrawal type that you choose. For instance, web wallets might charge you a flat fee of 1 or 2%, while the bookie might slug you a flat fee of a few ZAR to process a bank transfer. Check with Playabets customer support for how much it will cost you to withdraw any winning bets.
PlayaBets customer Support
Play Bets has various methods to contact them, with a good starting point the live chat, which is available at the bottom left of the desktop website. If you’re on mobile you will find the live chat down the bottom of the interface.
The verdict: Is Playa Bets a good ZA bookmaker?
More: Bookmaker reviews.
Playa Bets is a good all-round sports betting option for South African bettors, although we would love to see horse racing added into the mix. One thing we did not realise when writing out PlayaBets review is the extent of the lotto betting available, which is obviously great for those who enjoy draw-style gambling. Overall we fully endorse PlayaBets as a safe and reliable wagering option for South Africans.
