RACE 1: Hollywoodbets Durbanville Welcomes You Maiden Juvenile Plate R140 000
WINTER PIRATE (4) stayed on well for second behind Rich Man’s World at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on February 25 and looks a progressive type with a smooth action. He should be very hard to beat in this field. ENTICEMENT (6) showed tremendous speed on debut when finishing second behind Grapes Of Wrath on February 28 and should improve further. PLATINUM GREY (7) returns from an 87-day break after finishing third behind Marseilles on December 21 and can improve second-up with Richard Fourie booked. Keep an eye on well-bred first-timers and the market.
Brandon Bailey tips: 4 – 6 – 7 – 1
RACE 2: Join The Race Coast Turf Club Open Maiden R90 000
PITERAQ (1) was narrowly beaten by Winter In Auckland on February 11 and drops to 1000m from a good draw, making her a leading chance. SICILY (2) has produced two solid runs in succession and can feature on best form. SKY ROCKET (10) finished behind Fast Train on February 22 and should keep improving, though the wide draw is a concern. WALK RIGHT IN (4) showed improvement when third on February 22 and can build on that effort.
Brandon Bailey tips: 1 – 2 – 10 – 4
RACE 3: Lucky Fish Diamond Rise Open Maiden R90 000
READY FOR THE ROAD (9) travelled like a winner when second behind Bonelli on February 14 and should relish the step up to 2000m with blinkers retained. I AM SAM (3) ran fairly on February 28 and, with a good draw and extra trip, should be competitive. O’FELLOW (7) finished strongly for third last time and can go close at value. QUIET PLACE (1) is better than recent form suggests and could improve with blinkers and a longer trip.
Brandon Bailey tips: 9 – 3 – 7 – 1
RACE 4: One World Racing Syndicate Apprentice Class 5 (F & M) R80 000
RAFFISH (4) ran a strong third on February 14 and continues to improve, giving her a big winning chance. LOVE SHACK (5) travelled well when fourth on March 4 and, with a drop in ratings, can win if things go her way. ALESSIA ASHEVILLE (7) scored a determined win on February 25 and looks a value contender with no weight. TRUE HORIZON (1) is ultra-consistent and was a close second last start, making her a major player.
Brandon Bailey: 4 – 5 – 7 – 1
RACE 5: Bet With Tote www.tote.co.za Class 4 R125 000
SOOTY (2) produced a strong win over Dawn’s Early Light on February 11 and should go close again despite a tougher weight. DAWN’S EARLY LIGHT (1) has been narrowly beaten in consecutive runs and is a major threat. WORLDLY (7) finished well last time and can be competitive with luck in running. PALACE GIFT (6) returns from a break after a win on December 24 and can feature if fit.
Brandon Bailey tips: 2 – 1 – 7 – 6
RACE 6: P3 Racing Syndicate Apprentice Class 4 (F & M) R110 000
GIRL LIKE US (3) looks good value after a solid run on February 22 and is well placed dropping in the ratings. ACT OF GRACE (1) ran second on January 21 and should be strong late over this trip. DECEMBER DAWN (2) improved last start and can run on again. BLACK ERIKA (7) was competitive last time but needs luck from a wide draw.
Brandon Bailey tips: 3 – 1 – 2 – 7
RACE 7: Lucky Fish Crazy Time B Stakes R140 000
YAMAKAZI (8) finished strongly on January 31 and, with a light weight, should be charging late. BOOGIEFIED (3) was impressive when winning on February 14 and remains a consistent threat. SHERIFF JOHN STONE (6) should improve second-up with blinkers fitted after his February 22 run. HANDSOME PRINCE (7) holds place claims on recent form.
Brandon Bailey selects: 8 – 3 – 6 – 7
RACE 8: Hollywoodbets Bright Future Apprentice Class 5 R100 000
LANDSEER (5) ran a strong second on February 11 and should go close in a moderate race. BACKINTHEFASTLANE (3) can improve from a good draw after his February 28 run. FORT RED (8) resumes after winning on December 3 and is a danger if fit and suited to the trip. BATON ROUGE (9) also returns from a break and can win if back to best form.
