World Series of Poker Circuit set to head to Uruguay

The World Series of Poker Circuit will make its debut in Uruguay’s capital this year, with WSOPC Montevideo confirmed for May 18–25, 2026 at the Sofitel Montevideo Casino Carrasco & Spa.

The series will feature 12 WSOP Gold Ring events, headlined by a $1,700 Main Event scheduled to run from May 21 to May 24, with multiple starting flights across the week.

The stop marks the first time the WSOP Circuit has been held in Montevideo and the sixth official WSOP event staged in Uruguay, reinforcing the country’s growing status as a key destination for poker in South America.

Online qualification is already underway via GGPoker, with satellites running from March 30 through May 10. Players can enter through a tiered system starting from $5 step events, with direct $215 satellites awarding guaranteed seats into the Main Event.

Uruguay previously hosted Circuit stops in Punta del Este between 2016 and 2019, and again in 2022, attracting strong international fields and producing multiple regional champions.

The move to Montevideo introduces a new chapter, with the historic Casino Carrasco venue set to host one of the standout stops on the 2026 international poker circuit calendar.

While the full events list for WSOPC Montevideo has not been released, we can expect Texas Hold’em to make up the majority of the events, with a range of different buy-ins.

GGPoker’s satellite structure is very popular with recreational players with the fact you can enter a micro-stakes satellite and eventually win your way into a major event, a huge drawcard.

GGPoker (GGPoker review) will run satellites for WSOPC Montevideo from March 30, with the full schedule set to be released in the coming weeks.
