Carlton v Brisbane betting tips for August 1 2026

Welcome to our Carlton v Brisbane betting tips and winner prediction for their AFL round 21 clash at Marvel Stadium on Saturday night.

The Blues are priced as 3.57 outsiders with Australian betting sites to defeat the Lions (1.48) who have began their charge to a third successive premiership.

The Blues v Lions line is at 23.5 point, while the over/under total points mark is at 184.5 points.

Carlton last played on Saturday when they defeated Gold Coast by 13 points, with the clash highlighted by the emergence of Jagga Smith and Talor Byrne, who were among the Blues best.

The Blues have recalled Harry McKay (knee) after his injury, with the injured Nick Newman the one to make way.

Carlton will be hell bent on playing a strong game with their captain Patrick Cripps playing his 250th game. GWS recruit Nick Haynes will also play his 250th.

The Lions spoil of riches is highlighted by their ins and outs, with Keidean Coleman, Oscar Allen and Bruce Reville replacing Ty Gallop, Dayne Zorko and James Tunstill

The Lions will also be celebrating Noah Answerth’s 100th game.

Carlton v Brisbane betting tips

WGL’s AFL betting expert has assessed the markets and found some value Carlton v Brisbane tips:

Patrick Cripps 25+ possessions

Cripps has been monumental for the Blues in a dark period for the club and he will undoubtedly be at the coalface against the rampant Lions. Expect the Blues to back their man in against anyone in this clash, he’s paying 1.40 to reach 25+, which we are very confident on.

Cam Rayner 3+ goals

We’re hoping Rayner has been seeing the memes about no.1 draft picks this week, and comes out fired up. He’s also great value at 7.80 to kick 3+ – extraordinary odds for a player who spends 90% of the game forward. For Blues fans, we hit with their small forward Talor Byrne last week, and he’s decent value at 3.45 to kick 2+ this week.

Quarter leader – Carlton/Carlton/Brisbane/Brisbane

Very very speculative but at 16.00 we will have something small on it. The Lions have not been smacking teams early and Carlton has plenty to play for, with a potential wildcard spot and their champion captain’s 250th. The Blues have been a different beast under Josh Fraser and he wlll be keen for a strong showing. Ultimately though, the Lions should not be bet against at this time of the year.

Carlton v Brisbane prediction

Carlton will surely come out fired up against the Lions and should push them all the way, despite a lack of firepower up forward and a backline without Jacob Weitering. They need their midfield, which is ably lead by Cripps, to fire and Smith and Sam Walsh to provide plenty. The Lions though, have stars everywhere and ultimately look too classy up forward and through the midfield. We are looking forward to this one. Our final Carlton v Brisbane prediction? Lions by 26 points.
