Sportradar expands into iGaming with new Playradar platform
Sportradar Group AG has launched a new iGaming brand, Playradar, as it moves to deepen its footprint across the rapidly evolving sports betting and casino convergence space.
Announced this week, Playradar will deliver a fully integrated ecosystem combining live sports data, streaming and casino gameplay into hybrid products designed to boost engagement and retention.
The offering includes a 24/7 live experience centre, where players can watch sporting events and participate in gaming simultaneously, alongside new prediction-based products powered by real-time data.
Founder and CEO of Sportradar Carsten Koerl said it was the right time for the company to push into iGaming, after the success of their sports betting and compliance products.
“iGaming represents a natural and scalable extension of our business, and a strategic acceleration of our long-term growth roadmap,” he said.
“Playradar content is designed to provide optimized cross-sell between the worlds of sport and casinos, helping operators to increase player value and session length at a time when engagement and retention are key to operational sustainability.”
The company has also appointed Edo Haitin, former Playtech Live CEO, to lead its iGaming division, signalling a strategic push into the vertical.
“By combining our unrivalled experience in sports data and live streaming, along with a proven track record of product development, we aim to create hybrid content and gaming experiences to capitalize on the rising popularity of sports casino consumption,” he said.
“We’re uniquely positioned to seamlessly blend live and historical sports events, innovative gaming mechanics, and casino content and have the advantage of being able to distribute games to an already licensed portfolio of operators.
“I’m incredibly excited to be further strengthening our iGaming business through Playradar and to grow it into a leader in iGaming content, leveraging Sportradar’s existing resources and the highly experienced and skilled team already in place.”
Sportradar said Playradar will initially roll out across regulated gambling markets in the UK, North America and Latin America throughout 2026, with a focus on responsible gaming. The move reflects growing industry demand for blended sportsbook and casino experiences as operators seek to increase player value and session length.
