Collingwood v Fremantle betting tips - AFL Gather Round 2026 preview

Welcome to our Collingwood v Fremantle betting tips and winner prediction for their AFL round 5 clash at the Adelaide Oval on Friday night.

The Dockers (1.52) are a hot favourite to defeat the Magpies (2.55) after their wobbly performance against Brisbane and the fitness concerns surrounding star midfielder Nick Daicos.

The much-hyped Dockers have rattled off three wins a row, after dropping their season-opener against Geelong on the road, with their premiership odds now trimmed into 9.00 with AFL betting sites

The Dockers are unlikely to make wholesale changes despite the strong form of ruck/forward and ex-Magpie Mason Cox at WAFL level, with Brandon Walker (hamstring) also due to return.

The Magpies have won two from four matches, with their latest result, a shellacking at the hands of Brisbane, seeing their premiership odds balloon out to 41.00.

The Pies are likely to be boosted by Daicos and Scott Pendlebury, who has overcome an achilles injury, while young forward Charlie West, along with Swans recruit Jack Buller, starred at VFL level and may get a call up.

The Magpies have also confirmed a debut for Angus Anderson, with the 22-year-old best-on-ground for premier in last year’s SANFL grand final. “Angry” has impressed track watchers with his rabid style and tackling.

Keep an eye on selection this week, if the Pies go with two ruckmen again, we will be having something on Darcy Cameron to kick goals (we’re going to flog this horse until it wins).

Collingwood v Fremantle betting tips

WGL’s AFL betting expert has perused the markets and found some value Collingwood v Fremantle tips:

Josh Treacy 3+ goals

The commentators keep telling us “Treacy might be the best forward in the game” at the moment and while we’re not big on verbose statements like this, he is undoubtedly in-form. He will face a Magpies team without skipper Darcy Moore, with Billy Frampton and the undersized Jeremy Howe his likely opponents. He is paying 2.20 to kick 3+ goals with Aussie betting sites. Jye Amiss was the star last week up front, and we’ll roll with Treacy this week.

Josh Daicos 25+ possessions

The older Daicos is often forgotten, but he is a top-flight midfielder or defender when he’s going. The Pies look for him at every opportunity and is consistently among their top ball winners. He’s paying 1.35 to reach 25+ this week ands looms as a good leg in same-game multis.

Jamie Elliott 2+ goals

The Magpies leading goalkicker from last season has started 2026 slowly, but showed signs he was regaining touch last week against Brisbane. Elliott has been a cashcow for us in the past and we’re willing to give him a shot now his odds have eased a little. Keep an eye on selection, if the Pies go with Will Hayes again, include him for a goal in your same game multis – he showed a bit against the Lions, but it’s a tough gig playing in starvation corner.

Collingwood v Fremantle prediction

We have not been impressed with the start of the AFL season this year, with this the first week all teams will be playing, and annoyingly it will be in Adelaide for the annual Gather Round. This truncated start has left teams and punters struggling to get any momentum, with teams up one week, and soundly beaten the next – we’re looking at you Gold Coast. The Magpies were definitely down last week, and face a stern test against a team that was definitely up. Throw a Magpies home game being played in Adelaide into the mix and making predictions becomes tough. We’re just going to keep it simple, with the most likely outcome, based on form and talent, being the Dockers win. Our final Collingwood v Fremantle prediction: Dockers by 12 points, with very little conviction.
