Polymarket news in Nevada

Nevada regulators claim they have now succeeded in restricting all known unlicensed prediction market operators from offering event contracts in the state following a court victory against Polymarket.

The Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) announced that Judge Woodbury of the First Judicial District Court granted a preliminary injunction against QCX LLC, which operates Polymarket US, on May 29. A written order is expected to follow.

The ruling extends Nevada’s winning streak against major prediction market operators, with regulators now holding injunctions against Polymarket and Kalshi, while Coinbase is also prohibited from offering or facilitating sports, election and entertainment-related event contracts in the state. The NGCB said the latest decision means all known unlicensed prediction markets operating in Nevada have now been restricted.

The case forms part of a wider battle over whether sports event contracts should be treated as financial products or gambling activity. Nevada regulators have consistently argued that sports-related prediction contracts constitute wagering under state law and therefore require a gaming licence.

“We are very pleased with Judge Woodbury’s ruling and will continue to vigorously enforce Nevada law to safeguard gaming in our state,” NGCB Chairman Mike Dreitzer said.

The regulator maintains that companies offering sports-event contracts must be licensed in Nevada and has previously determined that Kalshi’s operations violate multiple provisions of state gaming law.

Nevada’s position remains one of the most aggressive in the United States as state regulators seek to challenge the growing prediction market sector, which has expanded rapidly through contracts linked to sporting events, elections and entertainment outcomes.

The latest ruling further strengthens Nevada’s efforts to preserve its long-standing regulatory framework, with state officials arguing that gaming activity must remain licensed and tightly controlled to protect consumers and the integrity of the market.
