Fremantle v Carlton betting tips for August 22, 2026

Welcome to our Carlton v Fremantle betting tips and winner prediction for their AFL round 24 clash at Marvel Stadium on Saturday.

Despite the Blues exceptional finish to the season, which has seen caretaker coach Josh Fraser given the job permanently, they are 2.34 outsiders to defeat the top of the table Dockers (1.61).

But there is plenty of variables at play in this contest, with the result having little impact on Fremantle, given they have stitched up the minor premiership, while a Carlton win will see them face Collingwood at the MCG in their wildcard playoff, rather than an expected clash with Adelaide.

MORE: AFL betting previews

The Blues have lost experienced pair Will Hayward and Nick Haynes from the team that drew with the Western Bulldogs, with Lewis Young and Oliver Hollands called up as their replacements.

The Dockers have opted to rest forwards Sam Switkowski and Jye Amiss against the Blues, while Heath Chapman also goes out of the team. Judd McVee, Bailey Banfield and first-gamer Tobyn Murray have been included.

The Blues v Dockers line has been set at 8.5 points, while the total match points over/under sits at 184.5 points.

Carlton v Fremantle betting tips

Our AFL betting expert has assessed the markets and found some value Carlton v Fremantle tips:

 Patrick Voss 3+ goals

Can I get some odds on Voss and fiery Blues youngster Harry Dean not getting along on Saturday? All jokes aside, Voss is likely to spend considerable amounts of time close to goal, given Amiss’s absence and the 2.10 on offer is better than the 1.80 on offer for Treacy to kick 3.

Mitch McGovern 2+ goals

McGovern has been a picture of consistency up forward this season, and we have doubts Alex Pearce will play. He looks good value for 2 or 3 goals, with the latter paying 3.70. Be aware though it’s been a few weeks since he kicked a bag this big, but Marvel Stadium is normally a positive for marking forwards. Harry McKay is probably a safer bet for goals, but his odds just don’t stack up. Francis Evans has also been in hot form for the Blues and is a juicy 3.00 to kick multiple goals. Blues youngster Talor Byrne has also kicked multiple goals at Marvel Stadium in successive games at the venue.

Either team to win by 1-24 points

We can see this one being a close encounter from two good teams. Take the 1-24 tri-bet margin available at many betting sites which is paying 1.87.

Carlton v Fremantle prediction

This match is one that genuinely could go either way, with both teams hitting their straps ahead of the finals and plenty of variables in play. Despite this, the Dockers will be keen to notch up a win away from home, with this potentially their last trip until a grand final. A  Blues win  would evade a trip to Adelaide but would receive a clash against arch rival and in-form Collingwood instead, but at least it’s at the MCG. We’re gonna stick to the player markets in this one, but if we’re forced to pick? Carlton by a point, to set up a clash against Collingwood.
