Evolution unveils US-facing Spinning Whale slots studio
Evolution has launched Spinning Whale, a new online slots studio built primarily around the preferences of players in the US regulated iGaming market.
The studio’s first release is 888 Dragon’s Fortune Hold’n’Win, an Asian-themed slot based on the style of traditional land-based casino games. Evolution said the game has been reworked for online players in the US, although it did not provide details on its RTP, volatility, maximum win or bonus features.
Spinning Whale is expected to make its wider North American network debut in November, with further titles planned for 2027. Its games will be supplied through Evolution’s One Stop Shop platform, meaning participating online casino sites can add the studio’s games through their existing Evolution content integration.
The move does not represent the launch of a new consumer-facing casino. Instead, Spinning Whale will operate as another game-development label within Evolution’s wider content business, alongside NetEnt, Red Tiger, Big Time Gaming, Nolimit City and Sneaky Slots.
CEO Evolution North America Jacob Claesson said localisation for the US gambling market was important to stay ahed of the curve.
“North America is a key market for Evolution, and we see significant opportunity to continue growing our online slots business here,” he said.
“We know that players in the US can have different preferences when it comes to themes, volatility, mechanics and visual style.
“Spinning Whale will allow us to increase the number of games we release with the US player perspective in mind from the outset, helping us get more of the content players love in front of them.”
Online casino gaming in the US is regulated state by state, rather than under a single national framework which means Spinning Whale games will not be available across the entire country, rather just in states where iGaming is available.
Head of Commercial Operations at Evolution RNG Malcolm Mizzi said Spinning Whale was just more evidence of their ability to remain relevant across markets via their localised content.
“Spinning Whale adds another distinct proposition to Evolution’s slots portfolio. Our strength lies in having a range of brands, each with its own identity, mechanics and approach to game development, allowing us to create a broader range of content for operators and their players rather than trying to make one style of game fit every player,” he said.
“Spinning Whale expands that range further and gives us another strong platform from which to continue growing our slots offering.”
Evolution said the US is Spinning Whale’s initial focus, but that it expects the games may also be distributed more widely through its global network.
