AFL finals week 2 fixture and odds update

The odds for week 2 of the AFL finals have been released, with two matches scheduled over Friday and Saturday nights. 

Semi-final weekend will open with a blockbuster between Geelong ($1.42) and GWS ($2.90) at Optus Stadium, Perth, with the Victorian club favourite despite their meek loss to Port Adelaide in the qualifying final. 

The Giants won their elimination final against Sydney, by a solitary point, with their crosstown rival almost snatching a victory from the jaws of defeat.

They now face an anxious wait surrounding their superstar Toby Greene, who was booked for making contact with an umpire, soon after the conclusion of the third term. 

The Cats would be bitterly disappointed with their performance against the Power, with a number of their top-liners failing on the biggest stage, with even Patrick Dangerfield uncharacteristically ordinary. 

On what is likely to be Saturday night, Brisbane ($1.64) will host the Western Bulldogs ($2.26) at the Gabba, following their loss to Melbourne in the qualifying final. 

The Lions were hammered by the impressive Demons and were exposed both defensively and through the midfield, by the flag favourites. They are also likely to have to do it without powerful Dan McStay who suffered a concussion early against the Demons. 

The Bulldogs were easy winners over Essendon on Sunday, but did cop an easy ride from the umpires, with Cody Weightman gifted at least three goals from dubious free kicks. They would also be happy with the performance of Josh Schache up forward, following the decision to include him at the last minute as they look for more firepower to replace Josh Bruce.
