Welcome to the World Gambling List’s Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs v Sydney Roosters betting preview and free tips for their clash at Bankwest Stadium in Sydney on Saturday night, July 10.

This looks a major mismatch, with the Roosters, even struggling as they are with injuries, sitting in sixth place while the Dogs are stone last with a misfiring attack that has averaged a paltry 11.5 points per match this season.

Bookmakers have made the Roosters favourites at around $1.09, quite remarkable given they are coming off a 46-0 thrashing at the hands of the Melbourne Storm.

But it makes more sense when you consider the Bulldogs lost 66-0 to Manly least weekend as they fielded a team weakened because a handful of players were forced into Covid-19 isolation.

The Roosters have won their past seven matches against the Bulldogs by an average of around 15 points, with the latter’s latest victory coming in 2016. In their single meeting in 2020, the tricolours won 42-6 at this ground in round five.

Bulldogs v Roosters team news

Roosters coach Trent Robinson must do without NSW State of Origin stars James Tedesco and Angus Crichton. The Roosters have also lost Fletcher Baker to isolation and Daniel Suluka-Fifita to a suspension.

Joey Manu moves to fullback to cover for Tedesco, with Billy Smith playing his first match since 2019 in the centres. Lock Victor Radley is back from suspension to cover for Crichton.

Promising Nat Butcher and rookie prop Ben Thomas come into the pine.

Meanwhile, the Dogs have recalled four of the five players to miss because they watched the Origin match at a pub. Corey Waddell, Sione Katoa, Aaron Schoupp and Dylan Napa are back. Jeremy Marshall-King and Ava Seumanufagai could not be considered because of suspension.

Canterbury Bulldogs v Sydney Roosters tips

Our NRL betting expert has examined the markets and some value Bulldogs-Roosters tips:

Bulldogs +24.5 points/match total over 46.5

This line/totals double is on offer at Australian bookie TopSport and is paying $3.95. We are banking on the sheer embarrassment of losing 66-0 inspiring some sort of reaction from the Dogs. They can’t be that bad, can they?

Kyle Flanagan to score a try

The Dogs halfback has scored only one try from nine appearances this season but he would love nothing more than to score against the team that decided against retaining him for this season. He is a clever player without being brilliant but can be evasive at times.

Bulldogs v Roosters prediction 10/7

We are banking on the chastened Dogs making a fast start in this one. The Roosters’ defence has been a little shakier than usual this year so the Dogs need to sow some seeds of doubt in the Roosters’ minds early. Eventually the Roosters’ superior systems and quality should tell but they are not travelling well enough for us to back them to cover a big line, even against the bottom side. Our final Bulldogs v Roosters prediction: Roosters by 10 points.
