The first nominations for the Golden Slipper 2026 have been released, with the Australian Turf Club announcing there are 1937 entrants for the two-year-old feature at Rosehill Gardens.
The Golden Slipper is the cornerstone of the Sydney Autumn Carnival and has launched many champion careers, including future stallions and broodmares, with early speed and maturity, both hallmarks of winners of this race.
The Group 1 $5 million Golden Slipper has had 953 colts and geldings and 984 fillies nominate for next year’s race, to be run on Saturday March 21.
The 2026 Golden Slipper will be the 70th renewal of the iconic event, which was won by Snitzel filly Marhoona for Michael Freedman.
Yulong Investments has entered the most number of horses with 115, followed by Golden Slipper record-winning stable Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott with 107 entries.
Godolphin (95), Chris Waller Racing (94) and Ciaron Maher Racing (91) are the next highest.
Amongst sires most represented are I Am Invincible (90), Home Affairs (75), Snitzel (72), Stay Inside (66) and Zoustar (61).
“The Golden Slipper is iconic in world racing and plays such a pivotal role for the Australian racing and breeding industry,” Australian Turf Club Head of Racing and Wagering Nevesh Ramdhani said.
“We are delighted to see such an emerging organisation such as Yulong nominating so many horses along with the biggest stables across Australia.’’
Horse racing betting sites are yet to launch odds for the 2026 even, with these generally released when the horses have some exposed form.
