NRL Thursday: Roosters v Storm free tips & odds, round 16, 2021
Welcome to our Roosters-Storm match preview, prediction and odds update for their NRL clash at…
Penrith host Brisbane on the latter’s home ground in the penultimate match of the NRL’s Magic Round extravaganza, in which all games are played at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane.
The Panthers and Broncos met in the NRL grand final in 2023, with the Panthers snatching a memorable victory. Last year, the Panthers saluted again for their fourth consecutive title as the Broncos fell away badly.

Times have changed though, and Penrith have lost six of their eight matches so far this season to sit dead last. If they lose this one, you can just about put a line through them making it five straight titles.
Brisbane scored a resounding win last round against the previously unbeaten Bulldogs, but they have also mixed their form this year. However the luxury of playing an away match on their home turf should give them a decisive edge.
The reinforcements are not really arriving for the defending champions. Luke Garner returns after a concussion at centre, but they have lost reliable forward Scott Sorensen to suspension. They are sweating on regaining the likes of powerful winger Brian To’o to add some spark to what has been a pretty lame attack.
Meanwhile, the Broncos shrugged off the loss of fullback Reece Walsh to put 40-plus points the stingy Dogs defence. The Broncos’ impressive pack is boosted by the return of Jordan Riki.
Our NRL betting expert has highlighted his free tips for Sunday’s game.
We expect the Broncos to win this one comfortably and also to keep the Panthers’ misfiring attack well contained.
Cobbo seemed the relish his new role at fullback last weekend and he has been a scoring machine at this ground. Watch for him to be in the right place at the right time to grab a double.
The Panthers have dominated their head to head with the Broncos, winning eight of their past nine matches. But we expect that is all about to chance. Ivan Cleary’s side has been too bad to be true for much of this season, and the departures of many big guns in the past few seasons is really telling. We are not huge on the Broncos’ chances this season but they should get the job done here. Our Panthers v Broncos prediction: Brisbane by 14 points.
